Can you believe it?
I checked my OIL (cold after sitting all night) for the 1st time in 1 1/2 years,
and was very pleased to see the level was about 1/8" above the FULL mark
(that after about 3000+ miles after my last oil change).

Tells me this 5.7L doesn't burn a molecule of oil!
And it looks clean -- still transparent.

I'm running Royal Purple 5W20.

At 35K miles, I think this HEMI is gonna run forever.:thumbs_u:

Keep in mind that you do get some fuel in the oil, so that will make it rise some or make up any oil consumed. But I know what you mean.

I hate it when a vehicle burns oil. Kind of hard to believe that the automaker's rule for "excessive consumption" is 1 quart per 1,000 mi! At least that is what it used to be. Who in their right mind would accept that.

It's a small satisfaction, but you nailed it -- I've heard the same in recent years about some motors burning a half or full quart in 1-2000 miles --
I say :bsflag: I expect better, and I'm pleased to say this motor is a tremendous product, as far as my experience to date.
Drive her hard, and she's still tight as D#ck's hatband.

If Ihave to add a drop of oil between changes I would scrap the car or fix it!
My Dakota has 260000 Km's on it and it burns nothing. I remember dad's 1996 Crown Vic with a 5.0L would burned 1L every 4 tanks of gas. If he was towing it would be 1L down in 2 tanks. Ford would say this is OK as per the manual. P.O.C.

Do you have a tranny dipstick? If you do, damn I'm jealous. Mine just has a stupid rubber plug that says it's for dealer use only...

Did you directly disobey this? *GASP!* I would never...
I want a dipstick! I was a tech for 4 years... and dodge sees fit to limit what fluids i can check.. the nerve... haha

No I don't have the dipstick for the tranny, I go to the dealer to have the tranny fluid changed, downside is I pay a fortune for it.
I found a website before, where they sold a tranny dipstick for our magnums for $59 to check it ourselves. I can't remenber where I saw it, but if you guys are interested in that, I could always looks it up and try to find it again. I may even get it for myself.

72,000 on my RT and 45,000 on my Hemi Ram, Castrol Syntec5/20 with 5,000 mi changes. Neither burns a drop or does the oil even hardly seem used. These babys are tight as a tic.:)
