Considering getting a Charger R/T Daytona in Torred or Sublime Green

Hopefully in a yr or 2 max from now. There is one sublime & one torred that I found, but they are like 250 miles away, if they were closer I'd probably be checking them out & test driving them. I live near Nashville, TN & you don't see many Daytonas around here.

I love the Hemi of course, the upgraded black leather seats instead of the off white seats, all the extra stuff like the wing, decals, painted interior, sunroof.

I currently have a flame red 2007 Dodge Ram 1500 with the 4.7 in it that's been lowered along with a few more mods. Over the last about 10 years I have owned two vechicles...both trucks...one was a 99 Ram (lifted) with the 318 & now an 07 with the 4.7 (lowered). I just don't really tow, haul, offroad or anything & I really want to get a hemi for the first time. I want more power..lol

I know compared to my truck the Daytona R/T will have a lot more hp, tq, weigh less, handle better, ride better, have more room, be a lot more collectable & lots more aftermarket support. I still love my truck & love the 4th gen Rams styling as well but I want to try something different & mainly get a hemi. I'd love to be able to keep my 07 Ram AND get a Charger but I dunno if I could pull that off with my current job having that extra ins, gas, maintenance, etc...

I've seen a few 2006-2007 Charger R/T Daytonas in Torred & Sublime Green with 60-70k ish miles for around 16-17k. I think I could get them down to around 15k & swing that & still have a manageable monthly payment. If not a R/T will be fine as well, its just that a Daytona will be more collectable & rare & would be my first choice.

Really all I'd do for awhile is maybe tint the windows & change the exhaust, if it doesn't already sound loud enough for me. Then I'd be happy for awhile. Prolly upgrade to led tails & nightshade them as well. Maybe a grille too. I'm a newb when it comes to cars & Chargers so I haven't researched a lot on whats out there.

'07 Sublime = 1500 made, '06 TorRed = 2000 made. Both/either would be nice to have. Can't beat a Ram when it comes to trucks, though!

Sublime for the win!

I was thinking Torred cause my current Ram is red & I love red & black the most...but I kinda want something even more unique & rare so I may be leaning more towards the Sublime. Then accent it with more black like dark tint, niteshaded tails, possibly rims...I like the plum crazy too. If I had the cash to get whatever I wanted I'd really love to have a SRT8 Superbee. I really love the Mopar edition chargers & challengers. Too many choices...lol I wouldn't turn down a nice 300 or Magnum R/T either or a Challenger.

Mainly just depends if I can afford it & it has the features I want.

I love my torred challenger get lets of compliments about how deep of a red it is and the matte hood and trunk sets it off I think

I understand you like the Daytona look but you can also consider an 06 R/T with the Road and Track Performance Package (code AWT) which aside from the graphics and color makes a Daytona a Daytona. You get the same seating, steering, suspension, intake and nearly the same exhaust (Daytona has a few less perforations in the tubing for more rumble). Good chance it will save you some cash up front.

The seating is actually vinyl but it is excellent, I'm biased I love my R/T R&T.

YES DO IT>> I have no.. NO regrets stepping up to a Daytona from a R/T

ITs the MOPAR wow factor in color that Mopars are so Known for.

So you mean there is a "regular" R/T & then theres a even better R/T? (basically an R/T R/T...lol) I thought the "R/T" stood for Road & Track? I see you got one, whats the main diffs between the reg r/t & the r/t with that package? Any badges on it or can you only tell by the vin if its got that package?

I love the R/Ts as well, I may just get an R/T. But some of the mods I'd consider adding (be it an R/T, V6, etc..) are the trunk, hood & side decals. So I might as well start with them on by getting a Daytona...lol Around my area it seems like the Daytona is just a couple grand more (at most) more than an R/T.

Do the R/Ts all have the color matched interior, such as around the radio, like the Daytonas have?

I like the Torred so much cause with my flame red 07 Ram I have now...the Torred "pops" even more than that.

I love complementing bolder colors with matte black accents. On my ram I have a matte black hood stripe & gas door. And thinking of wrapping my roof with a matte black wrap. I've seen it done on a few rams & like the look.

My first choice would be a Challenger SRT8 or R/T in a color like Torred, Sublime Green, Plum Crazy, etc with a nice hood or hood stripe. But I like the Chargers as well & they are more in my price range. It sucks having a crappy job..lol

The R/T R&T is a confusing package yes :) Basically the Daytona has the package but then has some cosmetic upgrades like the color matched surround, high impact colors, black grille and chin spoiler with graphics and the black rear spoiler. In 2007+ Daytonas had 20 inch chrome clads and I think some years had a rear diffuser maybe 2008+.

The AWT package had a larger front sway (30 mm vs. 27 on R/T) as well as a "9-land" steering gear that was weighted a bit heavier. Most had nivomat rear self levelers as well. They have the Daytona style seats just without the contrast stitching in 06 in 07 and beyond they got red stitching. Also in 06 they had chrome grille and regular r/t badges but in 07+ they got body colored grilles and red R/T badges in grille and on rear. They wheels on the 06 where same as Daytona with the machine face and black pocket 18s.

Test drive a Daytona it will feel just like a R/T R&T stock for stock. Test a regular R/T and the steering weight and the thinner sway bar is noticeable.

As far as telling a R/T R&T the easiest way is the seats unless the guy swapped in the seats. For 2006s you can check the tire sticker in the door and see if it says 235/55R18 as stock otherwise it will have 225/60R18 for regular R/Ts.

For me I really like the package of course two years later I've changed over to the SRT8 suspension from a Challenger but things like the steering feel you can't readily upgrade. I've not touched the exhaust or intake other than a drop in K&N filter, the R/T R&T exhaust is pretty good balance the muffler is a single pass vs. triple pass but the note isn't as raspy as the Daytona since it has more perforations in the muffler.

If you look at 300Cs there was a Heritage Package and an SRT Design package that had similar gear as the R/T R&T.

Thanks for all the info, a lot to chew on for someone new to the Chargers...lol Can you tell a reg R/T from an AWT R/T from the vin? I'd prefer the body colored grille too & the red R/T badges compared to chrome ones. So the AWT Road & Track Package handles & rides slightly better than a regular R/T? Hp/tq/brakes are all the same? So in the 06 AWT r/t the seats are black without the color matched stitching? I'd prefer the black seats than that tan/tuape that you see in most chargers.

I have a super nice 08' R/T in Inferno Red with about 58000 miles, one non-smoking owner (me) and meticuously maintained for sale for $17,500. It's listed in the classified section. Perfect well kept car to use as a base for more performance upgrades.
I'm about ready to trade it in..

The 2006 AWT package cars (Daytonas and R/T R&T) do have 350 hp due to the improved air intake and freer flowing exhaust vs. 340 hp. They corner a bit flatter with the bigger sway bar and the steering feels better (more weighty). In 2009 with the revised Eagle hemi the hp gap shrunk to 368 vs. 372.

The 2006 seats are exactly like Daytona seats but without color matched stitching (very durable vinyl with good bolstering).

I took a look at the red Daytona from Georgia. It looks to be in good shape. Option-wise, it's lacking the volume controls on the steering wheel and it looks like it has the basic radio.

As far as the Sublime Daytonas go, Thrifty Rent a car offered a fleet of the Sublimes for the 2007 model year. Options on these Daytonas were basic - basic radio, no sunroof, no steering wheel controls. So, check the carfax for rental duty.

I drove an '06 Go Mango Daytona and it was a quick thing.

Good luck in your search.

I have driven an 2007 Sublime since Feb '08. I got her used at just shy of 12k miles, now has just shy of 65k basically problem free miles. Still 90% stock and still get looks and thumbs up. Definetly a fun car to drive and as they get older just get cooler. If I remember correctly there are about 1300 Sublimes left after the years. Less if you take out all the heavily modifed ones, not that I have anything agaist them.

Yeah I think with a little more hp, being a collector & rare car, the decal appearance package, little better handling & steering, little deeper exhaust, bolder colors, etc..is worth the couple extra grand that they are selling for versus a regular r/t around here.

I agree on that too, if i get a collectable rare car like a Daytona R/T I'd leave it pretty close to stock. I'd keep all the decals & wing on it. Why get a Daytona if your gonna remove all the decals? Interior wise only thing I may change is the HU. Exterior wise all I'd probably do is upgrade to some LED tails (if they don't have them already) & niteshade them & tint the windows. Maybe upgrade the wheels. Perf wise maybe a louder exhaust & maybe a cai & programmer.

I love my Sub Lime. I've only had it since January, but this is one of those cars I plan to have for the rest of my life. I want to be 60 years old and still be able to look at it in my garage, and hopefully drive it too!

I like Daytonas but I prefer not to turn law enforcement heads :) I love the 06 R/T R&Ts like a Daytona without the bright colors and decals :)

I just bought an 09 r/t it's just the basic r/t but I love it it has the leather seats with touch screen radio, it also has the eagle motor so nice power. It's not all badged up like the r/t package so kinda a sleeper plus I have a big family so it's cool to have the wife and kids in the car and still pull off on the older gt mustangs and camaro's. If I was you I would go with an 09 or newer.
