The car didn't save his life, he almost took his own.

One thing to push it, but if you aren't intimately familiar with the road, its idiotic.

The doing 150-160 on an unfamiliar road, yeah, stupid, but he was alone in the car, there was no one else on the road with him, dark for miles. This is also an area of California that you can have fields for miles with no houses or residential areas in sight. So yeah, it was stupid, but he only put himself and his car at risk.

So I hear ya, but I know the guy so I won't sign off on him. He paid the price, his car got totalled and his back got f'd up. Good news is, he's alive and he knows not to pull stupid stuff like that again. That and his car saved his ass. Hell, he's the one who took the pictures a few days after the wreck. And he's already got another one.
