Hubby's gun shop got broken into last night....they broke right through a heavy plate glass door (typical shop style door). Thank goodness the guys are religious about keeping all firearms in the safes when the store is not staffed, and no firearms were stolen...the jerks did get a mag worth about $250...and some other small things (ammo, holsters...)...

I will never understand why some people think they can just take other people's hard earned stuff...makes no sense to me...never will.

Thanks for letting me vent...grr....

And if you put a man trap in there with some shotguns aiming outward set to go off in case of a break in, you would go to jail

Sorry to hear about the break in....thieves suck butt

Dogs, maybe?
What Don said was true, it falls under what is called 'reasonable measures'.
I think that you should be allowed to what ever is neccessary to protect a gunshop... but.. I am antiquated in my thing, I suppose.
I feel your aggravations!

Well, no one in their right mind would have tried to rob them while the store was staffed....their ass would be shot quicker than you know what!

Cowards.....

Thanks for the sympathies guys.

Video surveillance is getting mondo cheaper. If I was closer I'd offer to help set something up.

All it takes these days is a computer system, camera, and internet connection (optional) to watch a place like that fairly cheaply.

A glorified webcam (webcam with security camera features) these days are not too expensive on ebay and data can be recorded, compressed, dumped onto a harddrive etc. Check with your local computer guys to see what kind of setups are available in your area. (A camera inside to see the guys and a camera outside to see their vehicle might catch a crook)

no one was there when it happened...so no shooting occurred! Although I am sure the guys would like to shoot the idiots...but I would much rather something happen at night than a shootout with my husband and son in the store!

At least no firearms were taken....so all will be OK.

Thanks everyone.

How about a camera and a Scottie?

Sorry about the break-in, Sue.
My son absolutely loves your Scottie...he likes looking at those pics...

Maybe the robbers won't mind being apprehended by licking! :)

Great idea, but the shop doesn't make money for any of the owners, it is truly a glorified hobby...so probably not worth the money and the investment...but I will definitely pass it along.

The slide cage is another good idea, but again, probably not worth the cost of install in a storefront that only costs $450 a month...LOL

Sue,

I am sorry to hear about the break in, but I am happy that no one was there and that everyone is safe.
