My dealer says there is no option for:

'Activating steering wheel controls for the Navigation unit'

I know it's there... they can't seem to find it.

Is it with the Day Time Running Lights?
It's not a 'you can't do that in the US' option, I hope.

I believe it's under 'Vehical Setup' or 'Vehical Preparation', whatever the option is called. Then scroll down to navigation, and enable. Uconnect, lights with wipers, leave fogs on with high beams... all in that same menu group.

Yeah, yeah. Hey, bring your dude donuts too... then maybe he won't charge you $69 for this 30 second procedure.

I think all DC service staff have figured out the donut thing buy now... huh??

Thanks for the response! I'm thinking that the DRL's, high beams with fogs, and lights with wipers were all options, once you told starscan that you were NOT in the US.

fogs w/ highs requires you set the high-beams to 'export', and no other settings are affected by this. the other options are available anyway.

So for you guys that have actually worked with a StarScan... Is there anything on there for totally resetting the Nav unit?

Like if it gets hosed up from downloading modified program, for example, is there a way to reflash it or just force it to reload its program from the DVD?

I've never personally touched a starscan... but the nav unit doesn't send/receive data from the car other than speed and info for the EVIC. It loads the software off of the DVD every time it powers up... if you fed it a corrupt DVD, it might puke, but give it a minute to settle and feed it a good one and it should go down no problem. There are no modified programs as of yet... feel free to hack the in-speed restrictions off of the disc though!

Well, that's what I've been doing. Think I've got the modifications required to get rid of the in-motion crap, but before I download the hacked version to my Nav I want to make sure I can undo it.

But on that subject, the nav unit does not auto-reload every time it boots. It checks the version number of the program on the DVD currently in the drive and only loads it if it's new than what it currently has in flash. As long as it's the same or lower it will always run what's in flash. My fear is if I hose up the flash somehow I don't know any way to force the thing to reload a new program.

We've been talking about this subject in this thread.

Let me/us know how it goes. I would like to disable the in-motion crap also...

Thanks!
