if it was that simple, i'm sure someone would have done it already.Gwhiz2k said:Thanks fnky.
I had an idea it might be difficult, but I thought there might be a off chance that you could just put one in there and hook it up. Oh well.
I might eventually want an R/T anyway, I just can't afford one yet.
It actually is that easy!! It just plugs in no wiring needed, but the cluster has 3 different computers in it! One for the mileage, one for make and model, one contains the VIN and some other info. If the speedo doesnt match with the main computer you will start throwing codes. The only way to get it to actually work is to send it to DC and have them configure it to work in your car. The dealership can not do this it has to be burned in from the factory. Unfortunatly DC will not do this unless its the correct cluster for your car.fnkychkn said:if it was that simple, i'm sure someone would have done it already.![]()
Don't know if it's been tried, but at the very least, barring config and odometer issues, You would need a different dash harness, different R. side A-pillar dome light harness, the correct overhead console with the module (the EVIC control module is still in overhead console but it's display is in the cluster rather than on the console) the correct cluster, the steering whell swtches and the seperate harness for them, and you would have to degauss the roof panel (De-magnetize it). Quite expensive, quite time consuming if you tried. No I haven't tried it but that's what I found would have to be done to do it other than the config. side. Many have thought about it. Parts are expensive. Wiring is different. Even if you could get it in and wired, probably wouldn't work because of vehicle config. All I can say is good luck with that.
