I have been reading several treads with people having a shudder in their transmission . hearing about going to the dealer time after time with out it being fixed. Put the bottle of friction modifier in it. Ive used it in several nag1 trannys it should stop the shudder in 10 miles or less. I put it in mine 30k ago the shudder has not returned . It's a cheap fix, not a band-aid. in most cases the shudder is in the torque converter lock up clutches not smoothly engaging and disengaging
Ford GM and Mopar all make the stuff for limited slip differentials IT WON'T HURT YOUR TRANSMISSION. and it's cheap.I have solved this kind of issue in Ford trucks dozens of times when the people who sold them to me thought they needed a Transmission or torque converter

Looks like it's only a 4 ounce bottle so it should only make a small difference to the level.
you right sixpack....might have to give it a shot.

thought it was a bigger bottle.

it would also be a good idea to replace the fill tube oring and apply rtv silicone around the hole..this is for the shudder issue caused by water from the ac drain tube dripping on the top of the tranny and seeping water into the seal...there was a TSB on this...

describe shutter.

is it a front and back jitter back and forth or only lets say a harsh downshift while coasting type thing?

I have 84K or so and recently had my trans fluid all drained etc but I'm not a fan of this tranny with the lag that it has especially going from R to D.

It won't do anything for a lag inbetween shifts. The additive prevents the chattering during lockup..the same way it stops the chattering in an LSD differential. It either causes them to "grip" harder or to "slide" past each other without chatter. either way the shudder goes away. It just blows me away how most dealers don't bother to try this. instead they have unhappy customers who usually pay for transmissions or torque converters they don't need or it do not get fixed even after repeated visits.

I wish I'd thought of that for my Jeep. I have one of those in my closet. I put in a bottle of Lubegard and now my old Jeep shifts way smoother. Never put 2 and 2 together, probably the same stuff. I got the Jeep cheap cause the owner thought it needed a new transfer case and transmission. She drives awesome now!

didnt work??

I put a bottle in Sat and have driven 150 miles. I still have about the same amount of shudder during the 3-2 downshift when coasting down. This is the only time it has ever shuddered. It does not do it under hard braking or if auto sticking. I've been trying to see if it is related to the MDS turning off at about 20 mph...short answer is I'm not sure yet. It may also have something to do with the combonation of the above with my 3000 stall TC. I am going out to the garage and reloading my custom tune and turning off the MDS in a minute.
Also I notice a slight flare in RPMS when going from 3-2 and 2-1. this may be in my tune.
I'll post up when I know more results.
I have a rebuilt ( with AMG parts) tranny with BB valve body, paramount 3000 stall, stock 2.82 diff. sparton cam, headers etc.

I bought three bottles one for this, one for the LSD im going to get and one for popeye. 10 bucks each, with my military discount, *^^*)& ing dealers

What i`m worried with this solution is that it could cause all the clutches to slip...
mine shudders when it gets in 4th and 5th gear only ( I guess when lock up engages )

If I accellerate hard , no problem ..If I drive over 60 mph no problem
It occurs only when augmenting speed at slow rate when shifts in 4th or 5th ....
if coasting or deccellerating no problem ....

would it be the same problem ?

Dealer changed the T/C twice on garanty ,they suspect a low pressure problem on T/C clutches ...now vehicle no longer warranty and it starts to do it again....
how could they pass beside such an easy solution ?

I wish a tranny specialist would shime on this thread!

I can tell you that it fixed mine. and the car put near 500hp to the wheels with no slips for 30k miles
do a google search on torque converter shudder you'll find many people using this fix on mopar ford and GM

p.s. the dealer gets paid to put in new TQ converters when they are under warranty

the srt4 guys have been using this stuff since the neon srt4 came out in 03...it help the lsd operate smoother, also helps the transmission synchros not get damaged so easily

well, two days and very little detectable shudder since i reloaded the tune with the MDS off.
I wish I woud have done this first b4 I added the MOPAR additive, then I woud know if it was the MDS turning of as I slowed down. Im not nsure what the additive did. next week Ill turn the MDS on and see if the shudder comes back.
Hey 10 bucks and it wont hurt anything! definally worth a try.
Im gonna putthe other bottle in my next MOD, an LSD.

after 4 rides
i noticed that when cold there is still traces of shudder ...but when warmed up none at all !

I wonder if adding a second bottle of fluid (4 ounces») would be better ?
