Folks,
A 2005 Magnum RT AWD popped up local to me with 208k miles on it. However, the engine is toast so I am exploring putting a 6.1 engine in it. Anyone know if I can get a refurbished or used low mileage 6.1 Hemi in there ? Typical cost of engine with install? For about 5 or 6k it might make sense. I am unable to do any of the work myself and I will have to hire a garage somewhere in Connecticut or South Mass to source an engine and put it in. Is my cost estimate even realistic? If so, any shop recommendations in the CT/NYC or South Massachusets area? Mopar noob here. Thanks for your responses in advance.

I'm originally from Ct, born and raised in the "not so rich" areas of Fairfield County. My best friend in Naugatuck has always used Jannety's in Waterbury. Their reviews are a mixed bag, but mostly positive. I believe 06grey300SRT used them on his impressive build. Might want to contact him. I'm sure there are plenty of wrenches in the Northeast coast area.

I used Enhanced Street Performance in Sterling MA (central/northern part of MA) to replace the 5.7 in my AWD '07 Charger when it went.
They did great work and were quite reasonable.
They do a lot of Subaru work, so they're not afraid to work on AWD vehicles.
They've built a supercharged AWD 300C to about 600 awhp, and they've fixed many issues that a turbo Hennessy Jeep SRT8 was brought in with.
If you call them, feel free to tell Greg or Dave (the owners) that Gabe referred you.

I have a 2006 with 6.1. You'll need more than just the engine. Your ECU needs flashed to recognize the different readings of most sensors, and then you'll need a tune made modifying the torque tables back to 5.7 settings for the ABS and other items.

I did mine with the help of a friend, my engine was a 2009 Chally 6.1 take out with less than 1,000 miles. I lucked out, I paid $5,000 for it. I also installed headers, 3200 stall TC, HHP Rumbler cam, nitrous, and a few other goodies while in there.

Oh, and my ECU was flashed by the crew at AMP. Johan does my tuning.
