Morning all hope every one is ready for the hollidays
i had a thought i ment to throw out at everyone here
is it possible for the awd system in the 5.7 be retrofitted to a 6.1? can it handle the power.. if my srt was awd i wouldnt be storing it or looking for an awd maggie
and its almost impossible to find one wiht the factory trailer tow prep pkg
has anyone even attempted this?

There is a member LouZ that had a 5.7 based stroker put in his AWD. He blew a transfer case but you may want to PM him for how his ride has been handling the power.

As far is could the system be transferred over? Sounds like a lot of fabrication and cash to me . .not even including how the computer's will handle it.

Not to rain on the parade but I agree with the Cherokee SRT idea.

the magnum is a cool car and would love to stay away from a true suv as cool as the gc srt is
i would prefer a wagon srt awd over a gc if that makes any sence but like its been stated it seems more of a hassle to do it that way

I hear ya. That's exactly why I bought the mag as I wanted SUV room with a car's ride.

Not a dumb question at all! It would have been terrific if they'd offered an SRT/AWD!! I suspect it just might be easier (relatively speaking) to upgrade the engine, etc. in an AWD car, than it would be to put the AWD system onto an SRT... never been done yet, as far as I know, though...

Just put a good set of snow tires on your SRT and it will be fine in the Winter. I am on my 3rd Winter on Pirelli 20"s and am getting through with no issues. It is no AWD but works well.

On the Jeep SRT....man, if you have ever driven one (like at the SRT Track Experience) it is certainly tempting to get one if you can afford the gas ....what torque!!

It would be easier to put the 6.1 into the 5.7 AWD :)

Or just add a sidewinder and Econo heads and be close to the SRT power levels with better gas mileage

Been running my 392 (6.3l) stroker with no problems at all. I will also be running a 125 shot on top of it. There are plenty of people running decent hp on an awd with no problems, louz is the only one i know of with the problem. I will be doing much research and testing when it comes to the awd parts breaking and whatnot, and i plan on making parts available for reproduction for the awd system to handle very high hp applications.

Whaddaya need AWD drive for in the 401?! A foot of snow on the ground too much for ya!:Na_Na_Na_Na: (I live in SK)

Jeep SRT is not a good candidate for towing, sorry. I owned one and I'd know. Some of the tow rigs you see on the Jeep SRT forum are custom fab jobs (no thanks) and the Mopar is designed to work with the stock exhaust (aftermarket could be a problem) and is a 1 1/4 inch receiver I believe. And oh yeah, it looks like ass too...

As much as I hate to say it, the Trailblazer SS is a better utility vehicle, but performance wise (stock for stock) gets its guts stomped out by a Jeep SRT.

Get the factory Mopar hitch for your Mag SRT and some police steelies (I'm not sure if they'll fit over the Brembos) or a mud/snow tire package from Tire Rack and you'll be good to go...I'll be the guy in front of you in my Ram SRT 10 sliding all over the place...
