I just bought a magnum from a auto auction that was in a front end collision and air bags deployed. The car won't start so im wondering if there is some kind of saftey measure to keep it from starting after air bags deployed? I turn the key and all i hear is a relay in the back near the battery clicking. The magnum was customized so perhaps the orginal owner had a after market chip and maybe he took it out so that might be another issue im dealing with but any advice would be much appreciated thanks.

ASD (auto shut down) relay. Most cars have them to shut down fuel pump if in an accident. Check with dealer for where it's located.

Not sure. PM FunkyChicken and he can probably answer that. He's a technician at a Dodge dealer. Good luck!!!

welcome dugi. glad you could join us. :)
start by checking fuse #10 (5 amp) and fuse #20 (20 amp), both in IPM (integrated power module/underhood fusebox). #10 feeds control side of starter relay and #20 feeds load side of same relay. fuse #20 should have power at all times and fuse#10 should have power when key is in start position.

No Start After Front Impact

I have 2005 Magnum that I too bought from an auction with a front end hit. Mine was hit hard enough, that the motor, and trans moved back, enough where the shift cable wouldn't let the car start in ParK, I had to start the car in Neutral.

tried all that and everything is working as it should. Fuse 20 does have power and 10 does as well when i put the key in the start position, Done's fuse 11 computer reset didn't work as well. Thanks again for the help i do appreciate it, unfortunately the car still does not start. I am starting to wonder now about the computer chip. This car may have previously had a after market chip in it and maybe the owner after wrecking it took it out and put the factory chip back in but im just guessing, if so perhaps he may have ruined the factory chip and I wouldn't know where to begin on testing if it was working properly or not. I'm just running out of ideas on why this car isnt' starting so im kinda wondering about the computer.

just to make sure the airbags and seatbelt being deployed does not stop the car from starting correct? just like to know so i can rule that out.

This is just a thought....

I know recently finance companies have been installing a system on cars that keeps them from starting if payments haven't been made on the loan. Is it possible?
this is new to me, has anyone ever heard of this before? I doubt this is my problem but you never know.

ok couple question, the starter relay is that # 33 or 31 for the relay? I've also noticed some relays and fuses missing # 12, 13, 16, 37 and 41 are they suppose to be empty? BTW this is a 2005 RT magnum Hemi motor.
third relay from front left of IPM (integrated power module/underhood fuse box). not all fuse and relay locations are populated. for fuse and relay location and application see this thread from the knowledge base.

They also have to disclose at the time of the loan that its there, and you sign waiver papers -- for obvious reasons. Not that I have it done, but I've "known" people who have (on other forums).

i tried this and yes the starter cranks over but engine still does not start. I took 1 spark plug out and tried again with the starter relay jumper and i noticed i was not getting any spark. while doing these test i did have the key to the on position and even tried cycling it a few times to make sure fuel was pumping.
I double check the fuses after looking at the link you gave me to check fuses and relays and noticed #16 fuse which was for the PCM was missing and put a new 20amp fuse there, still no luck :( im wondering since the #16 fuse was missing and the computer under the hood has been tampered with since the bolt holding it down was loose the orginal owner may have done something? I really dont know, im just curious why would fuse #16 the 20amp PCM be missing and the bolt loose for the computer?

any other suggestion? and i really do appreciate this help.
