The lady across the street backed into our intrepid while our son was leaving the driveway got the fender and rolled the lip of the door.

Our agent sent us to get an aprasial (gm dealer)

1 fender, 6hrs for door repair, 1 door molding,

Paint blending, buff the whole side

Approx $2000 or more (math not done when i left)

She called today and offered to pay 1/2 of the deductable and 1/2 of the repairs.

Sounds like 50/50 to me

Could fix it my self for a $75 used fender and about 3hrs on the door plus paint but its a princapal thing now!

I don't think she should be telling me that I'm fixing my own car when it wasn't even appraised!

dunno about your state but in MD "backing up car doesn't have the right away" her fault

If you're backing up and hit something, you're at fault.

At the risk of not being supportive, was your son backing out of the driveway also? It sounds concievable that she might be right. Turn it in to your insurance if she's at fault, they'll make her pay.

Son was backing out but was finished, and square in the lane changing from r-drive and wham!

Well at least she won't speak now!

Think i found a right coloured fender!

But she won't know that!

Appraiser stopped counting at $1700, 70% of value!

Just found the proper coloured fender for $40

Waiting now for second apraisel then the discussion weather or not to write it off.

If i didn't just do 4 wheel brake job, an oil pan and ball joint i would say bye bye.

But if i can get a check for say $1800 for damages then i guess i'd be happy!

Then mabe get the tool box i'm lookin' for!

You pay insurance to cover the repair of your car, if you can repair your car for less....I say keep the difference!! Just make sure you get the original problem fixed as insurance is meant for that

wahoo! insurance called today 100% thier fault ,car will get the "new " right colored fender and a door repair .

Will try and get a 300 for a rental out of them!

And might be enough left over to pay some of my water pump/timing belt bill!
