Magnum SRT Halfshafts

Hey guys, I'm in the midst of a Brembo upgrade on a 2005 Magnum RT which ended up going south in a hurry. I have a 2007 Magnum SRT donor for everything and when I pull the rear knuckles off the car, the threads on the RT halfshafts were so rusted they got destroyed by the nut. Can someone please clarify for me if the SRT halfshafts should fit into my RT? I thought I read that the SRT halfshafts will fit but the differential end of my SRT halfshafts are a larger diameter than my RT. In my head that makes sense but I thought I read about guys swapping the SRT shafts into their RT and vice-versa.

So I ordered some new shafts but they're going to be a week and I really need to get my car back on the road. From the donor I also have the SRT rear end that I can put into my car, however, did I correctly read that I need the SRT drive shaft to make that work? I have yet to see an explanation why but if that's the case, I'm out there too because I don't have the driveshaft and I don't have a tuner to account for the gear ratio change.

Thoughts on the best way to proceed? Go with new RT halfshafts and call it done or ???

Thanks everybody!

As far as I know the half shafts are the same? Some one will probably correct me.

If the splines slide in I'd say give it a try, either it works and your fine, or they don't fit and your car remains down till the new ones come in and your no worse off.

As far as the drive shaft. The 5.7 one has a 3 bolt flange on the diff, and the 6.1 has a 4 bolt flange. You don't need the entire drive shaft, just the back half, once it's disconnected from the diff it lowers and slides apart.

Half shafts are the same. Rear spindles are the same through to pre-HC. SRT driveshaft to start with had a 4-pos yoke at the differential, whereas the RT on down have a 3-pos. Note that the yokes can be removed and swapped. If you elect to install the SRT differential you will need to have the ability to alter final drive ratio...
