ok ... some info first ...... 06 daytona CAI ... pipes .... custom tune. stock gears .... ok .. got into it with a rustang last night had his ass from thehit. snatched second and BOOM ..... then nothing. i figured i would be putting in the getrag sooner than i was planing. costed off the road. no reverce drive .. nothing. i shut it off .. started it back up ... works fine shifts fine as it should. ... is there a safety thing in the trans to keep it from blowing up??? i have had a few 06-10 chargers but never had this happen before. is this normal??? thanks

Do you have raised shift points? Did it actually shift into second and the Rpms drop? The tcm has its own rpm limit, so if you have raised shift points it can go into limp mode before it auto shifts up for you when using the auto stick.

It should just go into neutral and set the Cel, restarting would reset it.

If it actually went into second and was still under power and accelerating then I'm not sure, would think it would set a code.

i did raise the the shift points to 6400 in drive mode and jacked up the firmness of the shifts but im shifting at 5800 to 6000-ish in auto stick. don't make much sence going past that with a stock mill. ... and ya i shifted it myself. it banged second hard barked the hides and then went strait to the rev limiter like the input shaft twisted off. (been there done that) i think your TCM protecting its self is probly rite ..... but i have set up more than one lx like i have this one but never had this happen before. the cel light has been on sence i swaped out the T-stat for not heating up fast enuff. ... maby it was just all in the timeing of the tcm trying to save its self and my shifting it at just rite time .. lol tell ya what tho ... she has never pulled like she did last night .... air was good tires hooked every time. one of them times that you realy do worry about the half shafts. i was just wondering if anyone else had it happen and should i be worryed to send my better half out in it .... thanks

Yea I used to have a similar issue with my car before I got a tranzformer and saw that even though I was shifting at the right rpm, it wasn't actually completing the shift in time. But I don't have any internal engine mods done yet. so  figured I'd just toss the idea out there lol.

Edit: for me it was always that 1-2 shift that would get me, with no prep, tires would spin from a dig and i guess my brain should have been telling my hand to shift faster and my foot to be lighter , but it always ended with my foot down suddenly in neutral wondering why a stock Honda was in front of me while I coast to the side so I could toss it in park to restart. So it just sounds like an extremely familiar situation lol.

It's the tcm rpm limit causing it. Raising shift points only raises when the tcm shifts. Without raising the rpm limit in the tcm itself, it will continue to happen. I had the same problem with mine. Ordered hp tuners so I could go into the tcm and tune it with a dings racing tcm tune. Now no more limp mode.

i got a new update for my i2 and it has a TCM reset in it .... not sure what it dose but im thinking it makes it match the raised shift points. just to find out i raised the shift points to 6400 in auto stick mode and reset the TCM just to see what happens. not that im planing on twisting it that hard she is happy at 58-6000 shifts. ... ... anyway ... it works now. .. no more limp mode

The tcm reset is for tcm adaptive. It's not the tcm rev limit.

Was there a lot of wheel spinning going on when you shifted? It’s easy to overshoot the limit and hit limp mode.
