So I'm working on the cam/lifter replacement at this time on my 06 300C 6.1. This will be the 4th set of lifters (3rd set to fail) in 186k miles. Anyway, just removed the drivers side cyl head and it's, ONCE AGAIN, the #5 cyl lifter that has failed. However, this time the lifter has mushroomed to the point that it will not slide out of the bore. I know what Chrysler says to do in this situation (ie replace the lower end) but I'd prefer to not replace the 6.4 Arrington lower end that has about 50k since being installed. Is there a way to push the lifter through the other side and fish it out with a magnet or will it simply fall into the oil pan? Any other ideas????
