If a cam is a bolt on to you, 400 is easy. With ported heads and a srt max cam I was at 440/444. With some more mods and a larger cam, it should now be around 470-480 based on similar setups.
Without a new cam you won't get much of a power boost from just intake, exhaust and a tune.
I made over 400rwhp on my 5.7 with a 6.1 top end and a Spartan cam, so it should be no problem for you with the extra displacement. You need real long tubes though.
Gotcha. That's pretty unlikely, but hope is not lost. You already have an excellent building block for performance with the 6.1, even with bolt ons it'll make great power and torque. You'll pick up a good 10-15 hp/tq at the wheels, across the rpm range with greater gains up top, with a good set of long tube headers. Get tuned as well, and you can probably get up into the 450 crank horsepower range.
It won't add power, but a deeper set of gears will absolutely improve your acceleration. For your differential, which is 226mm and already has 3.06 gears, the cheapest option would be 3.91s which will also give you the biggest improvement in acceleration. A more expensive option would be 3.55s from Richmond Gear I believe, and 3.73s would be most expensive. But really if you're going 3.55s why not go a bit further to 3.73s......and at that point why not save some money and do 3.91s anyway [emoji41]
Unless he has posted otherwise on a different thread he does not have a GETRAG carrier in an 07'. They still have 215mm axles with an open rear. More power with this set up is just going to result in more tire spin and likely a slower car.
Thanks for all that. I guess we'll get to the Dyno and get a baseline. We are not far from Fredericksburg VA. Will probably be using Dave @ efi specialties
Based on the responses, the key is a new cam to unlock power above 400whp. The 6.1 came with a surprisingly good intake and exhaust setup. Spending money on those won't get you too far but they can be a part of a complete upgrade package to support further upgrades.
We're going to hold off on a cam at the moment. I've squeezed 398whp out of a smaller 5.7 ls6 bolt on. The 6.1 hemi is larger and has better flowing heads. I'm going to do some tinkering and report back to you guys.

All the same session. If I remember the better number was in 3rd or 4th. I think it was a 85 or 88 tb. Modern muscle one. In the end it was just a number. Other then always getting sideways, it didn't feel that fast. The 5.7 I have now with the 8 speed feels just as powerful.
