SRT engineers, it's been a while. Welcome back, and thanks for opening up these discussions again; I've either participated or observed since 2005. I want you to know that we appreciate this opportunity, as there are too many players in the automotive world that don't reach out to their customers this way, so we can all be part of the excellence of your products. I'm on SRT product #3, and as long as you keep your mantra of "bang-for-the-buck" at the price points you're at, I will continue to do so. Your products really do shine in the niche in which they live, and while they're not perfect, they're darned close.
Now that paragraph of sentimental stuff is out of the way, couple of questions / some feedback about the current generation of LX SRT8s (which I have a 300):
1. Question: Any possibility we can see
UConnect updates? I'd like to see a nominal fee ($25? / $50?) for the opportunity to "update" my car's entertainment software once a year to include stuff like the slight layout change for 2013, enhancements and tweaks between years, etc. Feedback: I know you can't comment on future product, but updates via household WiFi would be super in the future.
2. Question:
Headlight condensation. Link from the
300CForums, and link from
CherokeeSRT8. I know there is a STAR notice for this; dust covers for the vent holes. There needs to be a better way to get this info to dealers, as folks using the forums are finding dealers still not aware of this, and I can only imagine what people not using the internet are experiencing. It's concerning that 2013s are leaving the factory without the dust covers (as some owners are finding condensation in their lights), and it still seems "wishy-washy" if the dealership will order / install if owners are having the issue. It also appears that after the dust cover install, some owners still get mild to severe condensation. This may be more "Chrysler / Jeep" than "SRT", but wondering if you are aware of this or have input.
Suggestion:
USB charge port on the back of the interior rearview mirror for radar detectors / dashcams, etc.
Feedback:
SRT Experience. Can you show your Canadian owners some love? I already have to travel X kilometers to get somewhere in the US it's being hosted, but I'd prefer not to pay the "you don't have an SRT fee" if I just bought a new $55k SRT. I am a sad Canadian.
Feedback:
Garmin updates. $150 per year is ridiculous for something I get free on
every,
other, digital device, including
portable Garmins! I know this is probably more Garmin licensing than your involvement, but ugh!
I've also got a
"suggestions" thread going elsewhere in the forums with more feedback for you guys that you can take offline. I was planning on coming to Spring Fest for the sole reason of being able to shake Ralph's hand, along with all the other SRT folks to say, "thanks for all the sh*ts and giggles since 2004", but ended up having to cancel our plans. So I am an even sadder Canadian. But again, thanks for being involved in activities like Spring Fest. Also, a shout out to "ChryslerCares"; I see helpful advice from this person (persons) on all the forums I lurk, and it's just another way you folks go a little further.
Now hurry up with that Dart SRT (or FWD 250HP R/T, 300+ AWD SRT, or both, or whatever) because I can't convince ALL of SRTForums.com to buy SRT8s or wait much longer.
