SRT Engineers Round Table Discussion

Tuesday, March 12th, 2013 5pm - 7pm ET

We are welcoming back the SRT Engineers to the LxForums!

The ground rules:
  • First off, the SRT Engineers take time out of their busy schedule making go fast goodies to be here to answer our questions. Let's show them the proper courtesy and patience. There will be many questions and they may not be able to answer every question asked. If your question is skipped, please be patient as questions are not answered in order.
  • Please only ask one or two questions. There are lots of people who want to ask questions, so let's give everyone a chance.
  • Stay on the topic at hand. SRT Vehicles! Keep the off-topic chat to the other sections of the website. There is to be no discussion between members in this forum. Ask your question and enjoy the replies from the Engineers!
  • If your question has already been asked (by you or someone else). Don't re-post it in hopes to get it answered quicker.
  • Make sure you let the SRT Engineers know what model SRT vehicle you are driving or inquiring about. Yes, a head gasket is quite different between an SRT8 and an SRT4.
  • As much as everyone is salivating over what comes in the future, the SRT Engineers cannot answer any questions regarding future product.

No announcements have been made yet. Keep posted to our official events page to find events near you.

We'll be extending special ticket packages to SRT owners at every ALMS race this season. The perks vary from event to event, but owners usually enjoy a group parking area and trackside hospitality. Some ticket packages even include parade laps around the track. If you can make it to one, this is an experience you won't forget.

Brimbo, Slotted rotor Brake question,
Roaring/Groaning while braking 25 to 5 mph.

All 4 corners- New pads, Rotors and calipers serviced. 3000 miles and warped front rotors already.

Proper bedding procedure was applied. I have asked several times and was told "This Roaring/Groaning is NORMAL due to the slotted rotors". This is really hard to believe!

Can the engineers elaborate?

Thanks!

You're experiencing brake torque variation. This could be the result of either thickness variation or non-uniform pad transfer. Rotors do not warp. You may want to try non-slotted rotors and pay real good attention to cleaning all the rust off the hubs before putting the new ones on. Rust on the hubs will likely cause high inital rotor runout which induces thickness variation over time. The amount of time will be dependent on the aggressiveness of the pad. Also, if the vibration is only in the floor, it's likely the rear brakes. If the steering wheel rotates/oscillates right and left, it's likely the fronts. The fixed piston Brembo brakes are very good at preventing this unlike a sliding calipers used on most cars. Thanks for attending the session.

Ralph,

I've been very disappointed with my dealerships lack of knowledge concerning my SRT8, even though they list themselves as an SRT shop. Even the simpliest question is answered with a blank stare and an "I don't know." Even when I purchased the car I was told that airfare was included with the SRT Experience (which I knew was bull).

What gives?.....for a $50,000 purchase I expect Les Schwab service with precision and professionalism.

BTW.....LOVE MY CAR!

Recently, a group of elite dealers gathered in Auburn Hills for formal training to become SRT Performance Dealers. These dealers have undergone rigorous training in the art of SRT. Use our dealer locator to find an SRT Performance Dealer near you.

In the meantime, our hotline is always ready to answer any outstanding questions you may have. Phone 855-SRT-Team to speak with customer service specialists who are trained to assist. In between engineering webchats, you can post any engineering-related questions to our Twitter, Facebook or Instagram pages for a chance to have your question answered in a website feature we call the SRT Shoutback.

Heard a rumor that the SRT track experience time limit was waived.. Any truth to that ?? I let the one that came with my new 06 Charger slip by.. Yeah I know it's 7 years now, but nothing ventured nothing gained :)

Great SRT chat session! We all expect to see an instagram of the pizza at the next chat session (we know it'll be ordered again). Keep up the great work and I can't wait to see what SRT products are in store for us. Many thanks!

According to your list, my dealership attended the training......might I recommend some remedial instruction.

I have used the hotline......AWESOME customer service from specialist Mike. It dealt with an issue I was having with the dealership and was handled quickly and professionally. I guess I'm just disappointed that I had to follow up on their work by calling the hotline.

Thanks for your time.

my dealership made the list too. I'd have to say the training might not be sinking in for everyone in attendance.

Just a suggestion: Please come out and see what folks are doing at the drag strip with these cars. I feel this niche is being ignored by mother mopar
You are NOT being ignored. I'm personally carrying the torch for the drag race crowd, but it's a tough nut to crack with all the road racers and auto cross guys in the room. Fear not, my voice is loud and I will continue to yell for all to hear.
