First off, the SRT Engineers take time out of their busy schedule making go fast goodies to be here to answer our questions. Let's show them the proper courtesy and patience. There will be many questions and they may not be able to answer every question asked. If your question is skipped, please be patient as questions are not answered in order.
Please only ask one or two questions. There are lots of people who want to ask questions, so let's give everyone a chance.
Stay on the topic at hand. SRT Vehicles! Keep the off-topic chat to the other sections of the website. There is to be no discussion between members in this forum. Ask your question and enjoy the replies from the Engineers!
If your question has already been asked (by you or someone else). Don't re-post it in hopes to get it answered quicker.
Make sure you let the SRT Engineers know what model SRT vehicle you are driving or inquiring about. Yes, a head gasket is quite different between an SRT8 and an SRT4.
As much as everyone is salivating over what comes in the future, the SRT Engineers cannot answer any questions regarding future product.
This thread is now open so you can start posting your questions.
Not that you have never heard this before but, thanks for building such great cars,I had a 2005 300c and could't wait for the new model so I upgraded to a 2010 300c srt8, no comparison between the two (not that my 300c wasn't a great car). My question has to do with the adaptives... driving around town (30 mph speed limit) it doesn't take long before he (Frank the car lol) becomes a little sluggish. If I were to us the auto stick and held my gears longer would this help keep the adaptives more "active"
Question #2... I am running with a Predator, I don't really see much difference between the 91 and 93 oct. tunes, which tune would you recommend ? Other than the predator I am 100% stock.
Question #3... My change oil light usually comes on after 4500km, out of the 4500 km there are usually 2000 km of continuos hy-way travel (we visit family in Winnerpeg every couple mos.) This seems to be a rather short time interval. My dealer changes the filter and uses 0w-40 mobile 1. Any thoughts/suggestions ? Thanks!!
2 Questions, first is kinda related to the GC SRT8 coolant issue asked above. It seems that most of us have serious spray issues, especially in hot weather. Is that caused by the radiator being undersized for the motor, or something else?
And second, why does the 6.1 have such a major issue with Knock retard? Even stock alot of them knock on 93 octane, and modded, forget it, its horrible. I've never seen a naturally aspirated motor knock the way the late model Hemis do.

The SRT engines are calibrated to operate safely on premium fuel with normal ambient and engine conditions - If the day is hot, low humidty, poor fuel, or the engine is running continuously hard it will protect itself with calibration adjustments (fuel and spark). You should not hear the knocking that generates an adjustment unless some of the systems have been defeated like with a Diablo. If you are using one of those, your system is likely so messed up it would be difficult to guess what is going on.
I have an 06 RT with 112k miles all done by me. The other day on the freeway i had a bunch of lites come on. These 2 trouble codes poped up.
U1411-Implausible Fuel Volume Signal Received
U1403-Implausible Fuel Level Signal
The dealer still cant figure it out. THey said they did a wiggle test and they got the car to start. But all the lights stay on and they cant figure it out.
I just wanted some opionions as to what it could be. It all started when i was on the freeway, then brought it home and it wouldnt start.

When they did the wiggle test was it on the connector at the pump? The fault is based on the signal from the pump. To get a no start, you would need the pump feed or ground to the pump to open up. When they did the wiggle test was it on the connector at the pump? It sounds like they had a sensor fault (and they would need to clear the faults after the fix to turn off the lights) and may have done something to cause a loss of connector for the power feed or ground.
Is the tuning in the UK SRT8s the same as that in the North American SRT8s, and I suppose the other versions of the SRT8 as well, specifically in the 300? Using the EVIC, we've been experimenting with 0-60 times, and the UK models seem about a half second faster than then NA counterparts, so is there anything else that can explain this variation in performance?
The base engine calibration in European cars is the same as domestics. There are some changes for emissions and diagnostics but the basics are the same.
Thanks for take the time to hang out this weekend with us at lx and beyond. We started talking about delta and the esp... I have a old Gsm kit to shut off the esp 100%..so I thought... in listening to what you said if the esp button is not pressed is the computer still seeing delta's and compensating ? I know the predator will do the same but its just easier having the control at the touch of a switch...
Not sure how the ESP system would react with the GSM Kit. If the stock calibration is there, and still full on, it will be sending out messages to control the vehicle.
Did the SRT group have their hands into any of the development of the drivetrain for the SRT6 Crossfire ?
If so is there still a glimmer of hope of there being another SRT6 in the fleet (sorry for future ?, but its driving me nuts hahahah)
#1 How much front end suspension compression would you expect to see on a SRT8 Magnum @ 150mph ?
#2 There have been several SRT Power Steering pump failures ( as well as 5.7 ) from high RPM sustained use. Post failure break downs show the failed part to be a bypass or over pressure type device. Any suggestions for this issue ?
1) We have not measured the amount of compression on the suspension at that speed, but we have done dynamic evaluations.. and it did very well!
2) After a couple of conversations this base weekend at LX nationals and beyond, we are looking at the different upgrade options for people running allot of track events. We will have to get back to you on this one.
Can you offer any info on what the front and rear spring rates are between 6 cyl, R/T, R/T road and Track, And Srt?
Thanks for all your time and hard work
A.J.
Nothing like that right now but there is a Challenger BIW coing very shortly. That with all the bits and pieces out there might make a great road racing project .....
I have an issue with the power steering pump and looking for a solution. I Time Trial road race and lost a pump on track. It blew the fluid out of the resivor then no pressure to the steering rack. I almost lost control from oiling the tires. The failure seem to be in the relief valve, after looking at the rotor assy in the pump and saw no problems there. a new pump fixed it. This seems to be a common issue with these cars after talking with members here and SRT track experence instructor.
(We have to keep many spares on hand because of this problem) Was his answer.
I am now using a underdrive crank pulley to slow down the pump .
If it is the valve assy. can we buy just the valve instead of the whole pump.if this issue cannot be solved.
Is there any thing else we can do to solve this issue.
Please look into this issue there more than a few guys that do Track Days in these cars. their lives may depend on it at some point.

The owners manual has a good explanation of each of the different modes, but in a nut shell...
On : All systems on
Partical Off: Engine Torque Management Off, Brake Traction Control Off, Stability Control On.
Full Off: same as above with Stability Control Off...
The 6.1L oil pump is a 5.7L Hemi pump with a higher relief spring (the new Eagle 5.7L pump is a different animal with larger rotors). As such the pressure when the relief valve starts supercharging the pump inlet is higher to help with the additional demand of the piston squirters. The only time the lifters will see this pressure is when activated and it should not cause lifter problems.
The 6 speed cars can get a 3.73 or a 3.91 ratio in the diff. On the auto cars there is no option for a 'performance gear'. The magic ratio to gain a little bit of an edge with the auto cars is the 3.23, I'd love to see the Getrag available with this gear set.
Tried to Dyno my AWD today. Dyno self calibrating for all kinds of torque splits. He does Lambos, Porsches, Subarus all kinds of imports with different AWD torque splits. He told me "You are the first car I have not been able to do" I said, "I was really hoping to be the first AWD LX you did" What can I do to get my car dyno'd. Can Hal be disabled or do I have to disconnect the drive shaft at the transfer case?

I'll jump in for a sec: For those who are not familiar with BIW...it means body in white. The shell of the car. Great for constructing your own mean machine. Not legal for road use. No suspension, windows, motor, etc...

Is there any way, through a dealer or third party to update the ECM on a 2009 Dodge Challenger 6-speed car to change either the tire size or rear axle ratio?
The lack of a TCM seems to preclude this change currently.
FYI, I have a 4.56 rear ratio in my Challenger courtesy of Builder Bill and Diablo has not been able to accomplish this change yet.

First off I have several Chryslers and love all of them. For my weekend warrior I have a 2006 Crossfire SRT-6 and use it for track time, Solo 1 etc. and it's a star! However the lag shifting from 3rd to 4th gear is long and agonizing. Is there a way to improve the shift. Blue top solenoids perhaps? (no aftermarket support) I lowered the car and it now rides level but I wonder if the stock rake front to rear was for a reason besides looks. When I first lowered the car it was crazy loose which is why I ask.
...any of you SRT guys have the last name of Andretti?? Back in '04, Chrysler invited my son and I (as Intrepid owners) to come out to Downsview (Toronto) and drive a Magnum R/T, 300 R/T ,Crossfire, PT Cruiser, and a Jeep. Then.....we got to take a ride as a passenger in a Viper powered truck...went like a bat out of hell....pilot said he was an Andretti...was he kidding??? LOL
