Have found bits and pieces of information on this subject but looking for something more clear and direct. I have learned that when really cranking up the boost on these 2.9L Whipples (especially over ~16lbs) 8-rib kits are ideal. I would like to know what is the best setup to see little to no belt slip if I were not hitting that much boost in the immediate future.
My setup will be a built/forged 392 stroker, and I am leaning towards the American Racing Solutions 38lb tensioner (car is a daily driver). I am looking for more clarity on whether I need to/should upgrade my stock dampener and, if so, to which one exactly. If upgrading to this tensioner and/or a dampener you suggest, are there any drawbacks to consider?
On a similar note, which specific belts and pulleys (whipple/griptec?) have you seen the most success with?
I will definitely discuss this with my builder as well but always like to have as much information as I can get before hand.
