some people here know me some dont but I feel like shring my story I am currently starting the next level of my "I want to run mid 12s build"
I got a 2010 Charger R/T in 2010 I bought it ran 13.3 the day after I bought it and said if I could get it to run mids 12s I would be good. by the end of the the year I ran 12.6s but of course that wasn't good enough I added more bolt ons and ran 12.30s the in 2012. after while I wanted even more in 2014 I decided I was going to go faster and thats where this story truly starts.

I wanted to get in the 11s so I was going to do heads and cam but after research and convincing by a friend I got a good deal on a P1 procharger got it install with the support of a boost a pump thinking this will be a good setup to get me in the 11s and I am done no need to spend any more money on this car. well I got it tuned my Brent it made a good 505WHP which was pretty good IMO a few days after I got it tuned I was getting in to and at WOT the car just cut off my first thought was OH SH** I messed something up a few hours of looking the car over and calling people (it was a sunday so shops and people that put the car together were unavailable) I found out it was the fuse to the fuel pump after atleast 20 incidents of my fuel pump fuse going out I decided to buy a API intank pump once that was done I got thinks figured out and was enjoying my car again it ran like a dream and run a best of 11.3 I wanted to push the car further so I bought 80lb. injectors and a 3.2 inch pulley but before I could get it put on in spring 2015 a freak change reaction happened while on a bumpy road the starter gear broke which broke my flex plate which put a hole in my transmission and cut my trans fluid lines which hit the exhaust and caught fire. luckily after only a few seconds and the car being on fire someone driving stopped and actually had a fire extinguisher and helped me put out the fire. now was my chance to justify putting a built trans in the car well unfortunately my ife had a stroke the next week which put all my plans on hold (she recovered fine) now I needed to get my car together on a very small budget but with the help of friends I got the job done it was so bad I dont even have the current wiring harness on my car but we got it back up and running I did a little racing but the best the car ran was 11.60 and it was an 11.50 car all day long but figured it had something to do with the wiring but didn't worry I knew I would get the correct harness over the winter. november 2015 I am excited and finally ready to run the MSHS at Acto again (hadn't been since like 2011) well when I was prepping the car for atco I changed the oil and there were pieces of metal on my magnetic drain plug so while in denial I didn't go to Acto but decided to run at the local track ran a 11.60 and then said o myself I need to tear this motor down and find out whats wrong. took the front end apart and started taking the motor out when I ran across a classified ad about someone wanted to trade there F1R for a P1 I figured since my car is apart and I am probably going to forge i might as well throw more boost at it so I made the trade not thinking of everything I would need to get the most out of it and this is where I am at now. I am about to order my motor I have decided to go with just a forged 5.7 I searched for 8 rib pulley setup and have been unable to find it but have been advised that I should be able to make about 16PSI on the stock 6 rib before bad belt slip issues which I am told would make about 650~700WHP on my motor setup which is actually good cause it goes right to the limits of the fuel pump I have without going over which is a plus and I think I would be happy with that much power (but for how long). I will update this thread with my build and the results I plan to do all the installation myself with the help of friends in my garage so once it warns up this should be fun.

here are some pics of the destruction and progress so far:

Damn.. . . .glad to hear your wife is ok. Not quite sure I understand what happened with the starter which triggered the rest but holy cow you were lucky someone came by with the extinguisher. Gonna be a cool build for sure.

ye I am blessed my wife is okay and I too am not quite sure what happened myself lol but after looking at it when I hit the bumpy road (at a decent amount of speed about 55PMPH) it cause the starter gear to come out and hit the flex plate and they both broke off causing the change reaction. thats the best theory we could think of lol. and yea I hope to run MSHS 10.50 index class at least once this year probably Atco and maybe if I upgrade the fuel system next year I can get in the 9s but set it up to run the 10.0 index class fingers crossed but one step at a time

WOW! Cool story and glad to hear your wife is fine.

Did the piston somehow get damaged when the starter gear fell off? Was wondering how you would have a chunk of piston missing. How did your heads look when you pulled the motor apart?

I honestly dont know when the piston was chipped but I think it may have been when the starter gear broke. my heads look pretty good I will get advice on whether I should get new ones or not but as of right now only thing I am planning to do is clean them and upgrade the springs.

Hopefully this goes back together smoothly for you. FYI I dont believe the F1R will fit in the space the HO procharger kit puts the head unit, its much larger overall, believe itll contact the wheel well on the underside and making the angle with the intake elbow will be downright impossible. Also, forget the 6 rib, that's such a big blower I doubt a 6 rib could even spin it at moderate boost, its got way way more parasitic loss (i.e. harder to spin) than the P/D/F regular blowers.

It fit on the test fit before i took the motor out of the car and it has custom piping and intercooler but some fab work is needed i have been told and advised by a couple of people in the hemi community my gaol of 650~700 whp is reasonable with the 6 rib setup on 16 psi with a brace and some extra pulleys on the bracket

so I ordered my motor from inertia motorsports I ended up going with a 5.7 based 370. I am keeping VVT but not sure if I should keep MDS. a friend of mine broke his driveshaft and then mine this past weekend so I am now trying to figure out if I will get a chromoly 2 piece from DSS or a CF one piece from them I am currently leaning towards the 2 piece chromoly

wow man, glad your wife is ok !!

that trans thing is freaky for sure

you should have talked with BFNY about your new engine. not knocking inertia at all !

carbon fiber is alot lighter but if you plan on daily driving i would get the chome moly ds. if cf gets nicked or hit by debri it could start to come apart on a good start

so I have decided to go with enhanced transmissions on the trans and will be buying the fore dual pump hat and piecing together a fuel system this change may set back how long it will take to get the car done but I believe it is in my best interest to do the fuel system right. the big ticket items are all purchased now its just the little stuff here and there that I have to worry about I should hit my goal of making it to ATCO may even be able to make it to fall VMP

progress is slowly being made my motor came in a few weeks ago I hope to have time next weekend to get everything assembled in the engine stand. at that point only thing that will be stopping it from going in the car would be the crank pulley and spark plugs which I hope to order soon. I also have to get fuel lines and fittings to and from my fuel rails and them it will be time to put the procharger on and make sure I have everything needed for that

For those that followed and care the car is done. I ended up selling the F1 because of some personal issues. Once they got resolved i both a D1 with the race intercooler. I go get tuned tomorrow and i will post my complete build with dyno numbers once it is done its been a long time coming

Good to hear. Now you have all winter to tinker and make sure she is ready for the track next year!

Just got home from DTP Brent did an awesome job the car made 708whp on 110 at 13psi with my TCM not allowing the car to go over 5800. And i made 660whp on pump gas i plan to just run it what the shift points at 5800 hopefully that will still net me a 10.50 pass. I kept the API comp fuel pump (arrington) and it is at its limits but i will enjoy the car for the next year and plan to do a fuel sysytem and more RPMs next summer

That is awesome. I know this has been a long journey and many would have given up long ago. Congrats !

#24 ·
Thanks Guy and yes a very long journey lol

So after researching the API pump i have is a 260 something pump (really small for this much power) so i will be saling that and getting a single 450 in hopes that it will be better no sense in spending all this money and letting a few hundred dollars cause my engine to go BOOM!!!!
