Buyer and seller beware! We've had reports of some very odd scams forming on the LXForums lately. Please, do your research before exchanging $$, parts or services with anyone. Do some extreme vetting of your own. Check their rating, check prior posts, get referrals, use an Escrow service, phone a friend. Also, do not enter your user name and password into any links or odd looking URLs. The latest scam involves someone who cloned the LXForums and was asking people to log into. I'm assuming to get login credentials to run other scams on the site. I'm talking about you Viperking (you little prick). If this happened to you please change your password ASAP.

If something seems weird please report to the staff and proceed with caution.

FYI -

I just received a text message from an attempted scammer from my reply to a thread.

They used the number +18106662047 which is a google voice number. Adding a couple variants to help others who might be searching for the phone number: 8106662047 (810) 666-2047

Their text message included pictures from the post: Nag1 and seemed to have some minor (google-able) details in their replies.

They suggested I send money via Zelle (which does not have buyer protection) and suggested they would be OK with half up front and half on delivery, since their wife works for FedEx.

The person texting said they are from LA while the post indicates Mobile, AL.

Keep your head on a swivel and stay safe out there.

Well, I'd almost feel bad except for the fact you put your phone number in a public post, opening yourself for all sorts of trouble. The post with your phone number no longer exists.

You're welcome.

We have a few building post count with lots of generic comments on existing threads. No evidence of an actual vehicle or project. Beware and check quality of posts - start date or post count are not the indicators that they once were.

That, and lots of lots of spammers recently coming into and out of this forum. The spammer ( a real human) run the spam bots ( automated programs) these work on a collection of emails , generate posts, replies, and much more.
Once they've gained access to your email address, you'll receive an email where the sender and the receiver= your email as if you emailing yourself, and in that email the spam bot will LIST and include your own email password (spoofing) then demand payment in crypto.
Perhaps the forum "vs-admin" needs to take a look at this and deploy some extra measures to determine and filter a REAL human from machine input. Granted, spam bots can get through the cap·tcha/ reCAPTCHA , deploying extra verifications and other measures may help stop this automated extraction of data from the forum.
