I was a member for over four years and support Deep South Mopars hole heartily.
The owner Clay got upset because the presidents' made FB pages as it was post thought out Deep South Mopars in most southeast states. Clay contact the presidents' and gave an ultimatum. Clay also stated that any DSM member can't be affiliated with other club or you will be band as I was. No one should be such a dictator. The Carolinas' Chapters where the most active, now most DEAD due to Clay banning them.
I hate I was banned for what I love to do, being a auto enthusiast.

You won't see Clay anywhere outside of his precious forums. I was a Mod on one and he is an absolute tool, zero tolerance for any issue, and has always been a dick-tator. I was removed as a mod 'cuz I didn't agree with a policy; didn't think people should pay more money for something that would make the sites more accessible, and said as much... then 2 month later the policy was changed to reflect what I'd said. The reason he doesn't want FB pages is because it's then people not coming onto the site, which lowers the site access numbers, which reduces his income from all the advertising he has on there. He doesn't care about the vehicles, he cares about the money since the sites are a business to him and that's about it.

I was the South Carolina "Lowcountry" chapter president. It got to the point that I DIDN'T want folks to join our club because of the drama on DSM.
I resigned from being the chapter prez. When I left DSM, a majority of the members did too and we basically re-named our club to the "So Car Mopar" club.

Our club is simple, we are a group of enthusiasts of ALL MoPars. We cruise, go to car shows, cruise-ins, hang out, and NO drama!

Some of the reasons I left DSM:
1. A guy who hadn't posted in 2 years comes on and tells all prezs how things were going to be.
2. Was told Must buy decals from Clay. (Why pay $ for decals I didn't want when I have a club member who cuts ours for free?)
3. Was told to close club FB page or be removed from DSM site.
4. If was member of any other Mopar club than DSM, was considered a member of a "rival" club.
5. Seeing friends of mine, fellow DSM members(that I knew as good people) being banned from the website.
6. Being a chapter president and not wanting to recruit people to join DSM.

It use to be a great club with great people, and one guy was able to ruin it. Pretty sad.

Let me give you a little advise...When me and my wife bought our Daytona in '07 we started having interest in the car club scene, so we joined a club, was really gun ho... well things lasted about three months and all hell broke loose... well we left, took 3 other members with us and started our own club. at first we actually was a chapter from another club, but there was some misleading info giving to me... so we had a club meeting and became own own entity... We became a club that believes that there should be no drama ... a car club should be where people go to have fun... and that is what we try to do... we do have by laws and we do have club shirts and club decals for the members and we do have dues each year but we Our club is Inc. and we maintain Liability insurance for the events we hold, Our dues include a club shirt each year and members are encouraged to wear them when we are together... this shows uniformity and shows others who we are....and to the most part over the past 5 years I feel we have became a respectable group... not just with the Mopars but all Makes and other clubs...by the way Our group is the Florida Mopars .... bottom line I know what went on with DSM and it's wrong, we are good friends with a lot of them here in Florida, Alabama and Georgia ... and I know a lot of them broke away when all the BS happen.... and this is my advise to you... start your our club... because there are so many good people that enjoy their cars and we've met hundreds of folks from all over and 98% are good folk... the other 2% well what can you... life is to short.

Kind of off topic, but when I first joined here I was told to check out the Deep South Mopar Club forum.

Tried to sign up a few times, but it never let me do so; each time it said I would get a confirmation email, but I never did. It was also a little odd that it had a section I had to fill out when signing up where I had to supply a reference from someone already in the forum. Never seen that before.

I was a member of a local Subaru community before I switched to my Magnum, and it was a surprisingly tight knit group that provided for a lot of face to face, real world interaction between members. I'm a proficient mechanic who has been able to help out locals, and I'm self aware enough to know that I'm a pretty nice and patient guy. Regardless, I guess whatever I wrote on that sign up page wasn't good enough.

Anyway, sorry to ramble, and I guess I should mind my own business. I just saw this thread and remembered trying to sign up, and it kind of miffs me. Shame that a local resource for these cars has to be so stuck up about matters. It's not like we're all dicks driving Ferraris and are trying to keep all the blue collar guys away.

I don't really have a stake in this drama but I can say when I WAS on the last letter of alphabet forum...I posted the formation of a local modern muscle club..I was told the forum itself was a club and if I continued to post anything else on the matter I would not be welcomed...really! I didn't know a forum was a club..I'm all set! Will stay here and take advise from people who KNOW the platform and do more then post pics of their new CAI! (And not one that even works as I don't think they even know who LMI is lol!)

Lol. Funny to see this thread pop up. The entire Raleigh, nc chapter left because of
all this as well. Clay got mad because we printed up our own DSM stickers for our cars only and he felt he missed out on a profit opportunity. We sold them to our people only at cost

This thread explained a lot to me. Thanks for bringing it up again.

I pulled up this old thread because I was reminded of it when the So Car Mopar club met yesterday along with Low Country Mopar club to go drag racing at Dorchester Dragway. The break up of Deep South Mopar was a topic of discussion among the 50+ participants we had for So Car/Low Country on Sunday. I checked out the DSM forum this morning: not many posts in the last 2 to 3 years. How things were changed by one guy.

Old thread for sure but never looses relevance.

Was kicked off of my first car board in 2002 for pointing out the obvious. Trolled the board in subsequent years. An obscure Mustang board that was all but dead by 2010, IP completely dead by 2018. Principal claims he was an IT Security Tech in his other life, admitted that he had never owned a Mustang.

None of the core 'clique' owned Mustangs, many didn't even own a vehicle at all. Board Principal was living in the Jacksonville, FL area while telling everyone he lived in the San Diego, CA area.

Meets were characterized by the Principal and his clique usually showing up in Nissan Pathfinders or rental/borrowed Mustangs. Principal stalked me as late as 2019 in Jacksonville, presumably due to opsec failure on my part: my personal info I had posted to Facebook. Left FB some time ago.

*

More recently, have been kicked off of 3 automotive boards, two Ford boards and one Mopar board. I currently own a 2019 Ranger Lariat Super Crew Cab, owned a series of Mustangs and a Mercury Marauder previously.

Phallic symbolism is an obvious giveaway of someone's intentions, as the person usually knows nothing about the topics/vehicle being discussed. Those claiming to be retired automotive engineers, and/or retired professionals from another field are usually too obvious, tripping themselves up almost immediately. One fellow apparently had internet access from a Canadian Detention Facility he was locked up at - had no real knowledge of the topics at hand.

****

Most recent discharge was from a Mopar board. Why? 'Politics'. Anything a 'challenged' dysfunctional board mod can imagine can be labeled as Politics unfortunately. Mod went so far as to block my access to a sister board - quickly remedied.

****

Car Clubs/Websites and Motorcycle Clubs/Websites are often dominated by delicate personalities who have finally achieved some degree of unwarranted power over others. A functional 'social support-networking system' usually takes care of itself....
