Been running a Jet performance 180 thermo since 2014. Hopefully you turn out on the safe side of this.

Not that it matters much, but every Motorad thermostat I have bought in the last couple of years has been made in Israel. I just bought a spare 180 degree one for my 06 5.7L, and it too is Made in Israel.

Motorad on Rock Auto only has a 1 yr warranty, but the Gates has a lifetime for $3 more.
Is that a "Tommy Boy" guaranteed piece of crap or is Gates legit? Any experience with them?

I run the Stant SuperStat (China) but their normal stat is made in the USA. Stant has been at it a long time.

When I compare the Gates picture on rock auto, to the Stant picture, they are identical, as in the very exact same picture. I am guessing that Gates simply reboxes the Stant unit. The Stant only advertises a 90 day warranty, while Gates offers lifetime. Makes you wonder!
I did buy a Stant unit, as well as a Gates too, but my brother used the Gates in his car so I can't compare the actual units side by side. I can say that the rubber gasket was missing from the Stant unit. The Stant unit does say Made in USA on the box, and has USA stamped into the unit itself. But because they only rate their own unit good for 90 days, I opted to continue to go with Motorad in my own car.

No assumptions. The picture of the Stant part on rock auto, is the very one Stant has posted on Stant's own website. The picture of the Gates thermostat on rock auto, is the exact same as the one posted on Gates own website.Either Stant or Gates is using the other's photos. My guess continues to be that Gates re-boxes the Stant product, but of course it could be the other way around.

It's all luck I guess, the Stat that failed I have been posting pics of the wax leaking out of it is a Motorad.
While running the US Stant I learned of their SuperStat and swapped it in for chits and giggles and like what I see. It doesn't fluctuate under steady throttle. I guess I like it.
Look up their advertising on it.
Of course because maybe human error caused the uploading of the wrong picture. The point is that one of these manufacturers is posting the other's picture as their own. These are huge corporations which are not going to rip off a picture and upload it and face legal consequences when they can simply snap their own photo of the piece they manufactured. They are likely uploading the picture the other gave them as part of their agreement to sell the other's product as their own.
And for what it's worth, the Stant image shown on the various websites, looks identical to the one sent to me. I am happy to provide pictures for your viewing pleasure.
The MOPAR OE I removed to go to a 180 is a well built looking unit.
