Get a set of Braums and save even more. Then a lithium battery can shed another 40lbs or so .... a good drag pack set up can save you 50+ lbs as well. Front and rear wilwoods are good for some pretty savings also , then you can save even more weight on wheels.
There’s a nice Braille battery in the for sale section right now for a good price. I would buy but I already have a lithium. Easy way to shed weight and still use for street driving.
The 15" rear conversion only saved me 6 pounds on each side versus my stock RT brakes but obviously brembos weigh more. You could just go down to RT brakes and save a ton of money and weight.
Also forgot the washer fluid reservoir and lines are about 10 pounds EMPTY.
I got to 11.6 with a full interior. I found the most weight saved was in the wheels. Racestar DragStar 92 all the way around, very light wheels. Skinnes in front, fatties in the rear. I'm looking forward to your numbers once you do the full reduction.
Update:
4220lbs was the final weight for today. We removed the rear seats and took some minor stuff out of the back.
4270lbs with rear seats put back in.
Def will follow this thread... need weight reduction on this charger.... i know of a guy in columbia sc he has basically gutted his '15 scatpack... ummmm yea nobody can touch him lol torque monsters these cars are.. If we could get down to about 38 3900 its night night
90lbs permanently and I only touched the back seat area.
4360 starting. 4270 with rear seats put back in.
I'll be gutting more this weekend when I'm off from work. I also have some 305 radials and rims on on the way by monday.
The biggest weight reduction will be once I 100% commit to never driving it on the street when I gut the following:
AC
Power steering
Windshield Wiper system
That wont be for a bit because the plan is under 4000 without removing the daily driver amenities first.
I'll be removing and changing the following all within the next 2-3 months:
Front floor carpet
Front floor deadening
Swapping normal battery for Lithium Ion (track day only)
Removing rear and passenger seat (track day only)
Extremely light weight racing wheels and tires for rear, skinnies on front
Low tank of fuel (not full tank next time)
Updated, the trunk and rear are completely gutted. I'm keeping the rear seats in for everyday use until this bullcrap ends so I can go back to work and buy a 100% daily driver.
Vehicle weight is 4060 with all my seats in, one I swap the drivers seat to a racing seat and take out the back seat for track days we'll be flying around at
sub 3900lbs.
I have talked to my tuner/mechanic and his fastest SP is currently sitting at 3350lbs.
