Why wont an SRT cluster work in an RT? Mine went out and i love the SRT look. I bought on last week amd got it today. I plugged it up and nothing works but a few things on the EVIC menu. It wont even do the self test. I bought another RT cluster and everything works on it. Both have newer software in the cluster. Some things dont work like oil pressure. Ive got the latest software from Mopar on my car, had that done last month. What would cause this and can i do anything to make either of them function fully?
As I understand it, the software is different in each year, and it is not a good idea to mix years. The option list for the car may be different than the cluster, thus software collisions. There are people on here that know a lot more than I. Hopefully they will chime in.
What car? What year? What year cluster?
Its an 05 Mag RT. The cluster is from the same model year Mag RT. The software is slightly newer. Its a 4.05 version and mine is like 3.86 or something like that. The ambient air temp wont read correctly, and the oil pressure feature wont read either. Initially it has two codes for fuel trim levels but i cleared those. I was really bummed the SRT cluster wont work. Its an 07 model @steve65301
Just the factory stereo with navigation. Ive always liked the look of those. But i can buy a factory 6 disc head unit with bluetooth, so may just stick with that. But i would like to get the features of the srt cluster turned on. Is that dealer only or can someone that flashes computers do it?
I will check it out when i get off work. I talked to a shop here that does programming and they were saying i may need the modules associated with each function. All the computers, body modules and so on. I may just send mine out for repair and find an SRT overlay for the cluster. That alfa tool would be nice tho, I'd love to add other options to this car. Thanks fellas
Well this is odd.. i get in the car to go home and the driver seat is all the way on the floor and wont adjust back to where i had it... wtf?? And the temp gauge is flat and evic menu shows engine temp at 32 degrees..
@JD323, i read about that program and it reads like its just a scan and monitor tool. How would it allow me to change the configuration of the cluster or program it?
It can also add or remove dealer options. In the thread on it, the guy who started posted instructions for me to try to get my SRT8 cluster to work. I haven't purchased the app yet, so I haven't tried it. If you do it before me, please post your results in the thread.
I thought i read over it, not saying i didnt miss something tho. This is starting to feel like more of a headache than its worth. Might have a nice SRT cluster for sale lol
All clusters must be married to the VIN and PCM / FCM. Secondly, sales codes associated with that particular VIN are what will dictate whether a particular cluster will function properly. Both require the appropriate ODBII tool. Recent alternatives are aftermarket OBDII interfaces that have access or are already loaded with assorted sales codes that have been lifted from the OEM (legally or not).
Simply installing modules of any type without first having them recognized by the VIN and PCM / FCM is unwise at best...
Having no access to the VIN the cluster is/was married to, im thinking this isnt gonna work. Ive got other forward control modules with those particular features, but figured I'd brick something else if i just plugged it in. Ive an appt tuesday with a local shop that reprograms PCM's. He did mine when i swapped TCM's after Diablo bricked it. Hes got that dealer program that updates the software and so forth. If that doesnt work, i may make a night light out of it for my son lol
Wsd reading up on the alfaOBD program and i pulled the trugger on it. Anxious to see what all i can utilize from the tool. There was more reading about being able to program the SRT cluster into your RT. Im assuming certain functions wont work, but the obd interface will be able to do that. I.e. 0-60, 1/4 mile time, ect. Thanks to those who replied and helped me with this. Btw, anyone on the forum repair clusters?
I ordered the obdx plus interface. Came in today. I bought the alfaODB program, registered and all that, then began diving in. Had a laptop beside me so i could google some of the definitions. Now i could be doing it all wrong, but i found no options anywhere in the program to change my odometer or make anything work on it that doesnt. It gives me several different cluster options, meaning different years but none have any of the options im looking for. You CAN change any dealer option tho. At the pull a part yard, i got a DLR sensor and HVAC controls. I also added the navigation radio. All those options change easily. Any body can be changed easily. But making the cluster work, i cant figure it out. It does tell me the PCM mileage, cluster #1 mileage and current cluster mileage, but no option to change. Anyone with more knowledge on this tool please chime in and school me.
I will say thia about the program, i tried it on the wife's 2015 Journey and you can change anything imaginable. Can correct speedo, change VIN for different modules, change the make of the vehicle and so on. Couldve changed the cluster to SRT if it had any of those functions lol. On newer vehicles, this may be a sweet tool. But my 05, not so much. I will worry more with it later. I picked up an 06 6.1L in a pull a part yard yesterday. Once i go through it, thats going in the Mag. I snatched its PCM, TCM and BCM as well.
