6.2 Hellcat in '69 Cuda. Which blower?

I'm building a 6.2 engine for my Cuda. Would love some input on which blower to use. I'm not concerned with maximum power. A stock HC engine would be plenty enough. I'm mainly looking for which blower would impress you the most when looking under the hood, a stock HC blower or a Whipple? I can get either one and the blowers themselves would be about the same cost.

I want my car to be impressive as long as possible, and I know it will become passé in time as people build even wilder combinations. The stock IHI blower would pretty well indicate it's a HC engine, whereas the Whipple could be sitting on a 5.7 for all many people could tell. The car will have all the power (and beyond) I will ever need, but I want it to have a real "wow" factor when looking under the hood.

Admittedly, this is a real superficial, if not childish concern I have about my car, but I'm putting a lot of time, labor and money into it and I want for people to love it as much as I do. Your input is appreciated. Thank you in advance...

Well, my concern and question only pertains to the stock, IHI vs. the Whipple. There's a ton of others out there, in which I have no interest in whatsoever. In the aftermarket, the Whipple is the one I respect and am impressed with the most. It's left the biggest impression on me from many years ago, before others came on the market.

I'm somewhat of a Mopar purist, so an unaltered Hellcat "package" under the hood would look very impressive to me and others, I'm sure. To the extent I like tasteful and functional mods, the Whipple would be my choice. I guess what I'm looking for is input from those who would prefer "the stock and obvious a Hellcat look", vs those who would be more impressed with the "modded with a Whipple" look.

IMO, the Whipple looks the best. However, the IHI is a Hellcat blower. I think that makes a statement right there.

Well, after some talks with the wife, I decided to just buy a Hellcrate engine. I ordered it last week. It should be in sometime this week. This will take care of my dilemma and as mentioned above, the Hellcat blower makes a statement by itself. If 707hp is not enough power for a 3,200 lb. car, I can always put a big Whipple on it later. Lololol

cant wait to get the engine and mock it up in the engine bay. I'm expecting I'll need to modify the firewall for that big blower case.

Very cool build ! I think you'll love the stock IHI . I have a 2015 Hellcat Challenger . With the weight difference alone ; your 'cuda should be crazy . I did the upper pulley change only and it dynoed at 706 . Ran 10.33 1/4 mile . Since then I did the lower pulley , injectors and 309 gear . It dynoed 816 on 93 octane . No passes yet . The motor/ blower combo makes crazy power with minimal mods .
Good luck with the build ! Going to be a quick one !!

Thanks for the input there Jack. Your Challenger sounds like one heck of a car. I doubt I'll need to modify it , given the much less weight of the car.

Got my engine today. With that big blower on their, I'm not even sure how to lift the engine off the shipping pallet stand. Anyone know the safe lifting points?

Any ideas out there for lifting a HC Hemi with the blower still on it? I wonder how the heck the factory does it! Thanks for any knowledgable advice.

B4TD4D,
Thanks, yes I saw that. They didn't really show then how they got it back off the engine stand onto the cradle. I found a guy who built a simple frame with struts going down and bolting to his blown, big block Chevy. Installs and removes it from his boat as a complete engine. The frame is lifted via four chains, one per corner going up to the hoist hook. Simple and effective. I just need to build the same apparatus and lift it onto the engine stand and then I have a way to get it back down. Pics when I can.

Wow I never would've thought that it would be such an involved process... even when I saw that episode on TV I thought to myself "wtf Dodge? Make the HellCrate available but no way to move it!"

Glad to hear you have a solution, this build is going to be epic!

When I installed the Hellcat in my CJ7 Jeep I removed the blower and did it the old fashioned way..... with chains on the heads.

Then installed the Whipple.
