You can use a gm alternator. There are no Chrysler alternators that are internally regulated except of course the newer ones that are regulated by the pcm
He can go with an Aftermarket Internal one from Powermaster/Tuff Stuff/Summit/Jegs that dont stinkin' computer... Albeit, thats if he's wanting that for a the Cuda in his Sig.. 1970 PLYMOUTH CUDA 7.0L/426 Alternators and Generators - Free Shipping on Orders Over $99 at Summit Racing
Yes they have them for the Non Hemi cars as well.. For easier installation, using your current Alt mounting position, would remove your old alt, a make a Note(ie a sketch) of the Mounting ear position, otherwise you can wind up getting one that is completely "Clocked" in an entirely different direction.. To give yourself less headaches, I would call in and Talk to one of either Summit Racing/JEG's Parts Techs, and ask them to pull the Internal Regulated Alt you are looking at Part# wise, and see if it matches up to your original Alt Case mounting ears(Trust me when I say that their Online Catalog can easily be off(not their fault, just happens time to time), so its better to verify)..
We used the original one from my brothers 1970 slant six dart and it works just fine. If I were you, I would get one for a 80s diplomat police car. They had 160 amp alternators like the newer ones and would be better suited for that
