Just use a floor jack to raise / compress the spring. Once you have any preload off the bolt you can disassemble either from the knuckle or the carriage. Just be careful about the spring and where the jack is placed so it doesn't come loose on you, and you or the car get damaged. As far as the bushing at the knuckle....I replaced mine once but shortly afterward could no longer locate any. The system wanted you to purchase the whole new lower control arm with the new bushing installed. Also I had a tool machined for me to press the old out and new in without tearing the rubber boot. FYI its a Mercedes part so if you go looking you have to start there,...also a Germany company....I believe starts with a L

Thank ks, I have had it all apart a few times, other than I cant figure out HOW to detach the control arm from the knuckle. I have pulled the bolt, but its obvious that it takes some kind of special tool to do it. I just had my 3rd try at replacing the bushing for the other side of the control arm, the one thats in the frame, and just had my 3rd fail. I soaked it with penetrating lube, and have the ball joint kit with the C clamp looking piece, but no matter how hard I wrench on that thing, i cant get it to budge. So if anyone has any pointers on that, would be a huge help.
