I just did a very simple search in the keyword box up top of the forum and lots of results (200 or so) of posts with it mentioned. So some idea of its usefulness could probably be figured from those posts. Haven't used it myself; might have to check into it..

Edit - beta version supports key programming; that right there would make it worth the purchase price for most people. Some locksmiths can do it reasonably priced but many people find themselves at the dealer paying $$$ for a simple key to be added when they buy a used car that only comes with one. I'm thinking overall it would be a nice upgrade from using Torque Pro, if I can read the specific codes from other modules, which it appears to be able to do. (Not bashing Torque as it's ridiculously useful for a $5 app!)

I have seen you can adjust tire size and rear axle ratio.
When I put n my 3.70 rear, my Predator 1 only had the choice of 3.73.
Also you can turn on certain features that may have not been on. However my car came fully loaded, so I do not know if there is any advantage here.

The fact that it's $50 just to be able to read every code that can come up on your car is worth it just in its own. The app is very flexible in adding features that your car I didn't have though. For example I used it in my nag1 swap on my 3.5 SE. Has options to do the evic cluster all kinds of other stuff too, turn off TPMS change lighting axle ratio, you name it... Incredibly useful and the guy is still adding new features every 3 to 6 months, and if you email him about something he'll get back to you too.

WHAT IT DOESN'T ACTUALLY DO:

From experience, and only what I've tried.

Does not program keys.
Does not disable TPMS.
May or may not change things in the FCM or TIPM (whichever year you have)
Never tried to change tire size.

It is a more than basic engine diagnostic tool, I would say useful mostly for ABS and AIRBAGS. The basic scan tools you can buy are not supposed to legally let you erase ABS codes but this will.

But if you're buying it to program keys you're going to be very disappointed. Especially if you try too many times and end up with a car that won't start and needs to be towed to a dealer to be fixed.

I just got mine, but I still need to get a bluetooth ELM327 OBDII connection. There are a zillion of them out there and they(Appcar) says some don't work. How do I know which one to get? I'll be loading the Appcar program onto my HPT dedicated laptop that runs Windows 10. Are there any other handy hints that I need to know to get this up and running?

Also, another question.....I bought the program for just one VIN and am wondering if, at a later date, I can upgrade it to include a couple more VIN's, or do I need to order an all new multi-VIN program?

Cool, that's the kind of info. I was looking for......cable it is.

Right now I am just going to try it on one vehicle and if I find it to be what I expect, I'll add to it.

Thanks for the info.....appreciate it.

Thanks, I just ordered one. Does anyone know if you can somehow pull the vehicle PIN (not the key PIN) with this program? I've changed the PCM in one of my vehicles and the scanner needs the vehicle PIN before it'll allow me to properly set it up. Everything works OK, but I get a lot of codes but the scanner (and operation of components) says there are no problems with the coded components. On one of my vehicles I was able to get it from the dealer, but this time they said they can't do it even though I showed them proof of ownership.

Thanks, it does. I loaded it and was able to pull the vehicle PIN code. I was able to get it for one of my vehicles from the dealer, but this time they wouldn't give it to me unless I was buying something from them that required it. IMO, just another way to gouge the customer. Glad there's more than one way of getting it. I needed it for a PCM change, but I don't really know if it did anything. I ran the routine and it didn't seem to make any difference in anything that I could tell. I will say that I really like the Appcar program and am going to order two more VIN's so I can use it on my other vehicles. For the price you can't go wrong. It actually does some things that my "expensive" Autel scanner can't.

The build sheet on my 2012 300 SRT shows Remote Windows Down but for the life of me I can't figure out how to get that function to work. I've read that the feature was removed in 2012, but if that was the case, should the build sheet still reflect the feature? Does anyone know if this application can re-enable the function on my car and possibly other later model Chargers and/or Challengers?
