    Compression pressure 2006 vs 2009

    I recently bought two Charger R/T's. A 2006 and a 2009.

Just a general check I took compression readings.
Had one plug out of each cylinder and did nothing but turn the key for three revolutions.

The 2006 has 165 +/- and the 2009 has 235 psi almost exact on all 8. Used the same gauge.

The 2009 feels way more powerful. It does not have 2009 heads on an older block. And it never has detonation or spark retard with 87 octane.

I'm assuming the higher numbers are from the variable cam timing. Would this be correct?

    Damn that’s stout.
Yes the vvt will dictate those numbers.

Eagle engines had higher compression than earlier 5.7s.

My bad spelling, meant lazy, with less duration and lift the cranking compression will be higher.I have had a 14.5to one motor have 250 lbs cranking and with a high lift roller cam it was 150 lbs. That is why we use a high speed starter on the blower motors to get enough pressure to start.
