So getting noise from under the car. As from inspection, it looks like the center carrier bearing and the couplers are shot. Any recommendations for replacement? Does a new driveshaft come with the couplers?
Thanks. When looking around for replacements, since I have to do both ends and the center bearing, it totals up to be the same as just replacing the whole unit. I'll call around to a few shops and inquire at a few online outings for pricing.
Called a few online shops and since it's an 83 inch part, it's oversize (AKA fortune to ship). So my understanding is it is better to just pay dealer list price. Right now the lowest cost for the complete assembly is $794.99. Buying the center bearing and the couplers (front and rear) is about $573. I'm thinking that I'd just rather replace the entire unit despite being a $225 difference. Any thoughts? If there is a better alternative at that cost I am also fine with suggestions.
I have. Looks like the bushings for the ends are out of stock. The center bearing is pretty cheap it cost wise. Does anyone know who the manufacturer is for the OE unit?
no but you can call drive shaft shop.. they don't advertise them but will make you a 2 pc that is bullet proof.. they are more money but you get rid of the stupid rubber end mounts and the cheesy center support with a better made unit
They have one showing the same specs with a different part number that is on Amazon. I haven't laid eyes on this specific one but the photos look to be a match and it's on Amazon for half the price of the GAC02-007. Info below
