To consolidate a bunch of good info from a bunch of different threads, here's what you need to know about buying replacement lugnuts for your LX. I mainly focus on the Gorilla brand, because they offer more options that work, and they're readily available.

The first post has all the specs you need to know, with part numbers for the various options, and the second post will address all the previous concerns that have been raised, one at a time.

Here are the important specs:

Lug Nut Seat Style: Conical seat
Thread Size: 14mm x 1.50 RH
Conical Seat Taper: 60 degree
Conical Seat Type: Bulge

Here are some examples of Gorilla lugnuts that will work on LX's:

- These are all the same length (1.40"):
Gorilla 91147 (Chrome, 13/16 hex)
Gorilla 41147 (Chrome, 3/4 hex)
Gorilla 91147SS (Stainless Steel, 13/16 hex)
Gorilla 91147BC (Black Chrome, 13/16 hex)
Gorilla 91147HT (Chrome, heat-treated, 13/16 hex)
Gorilla 91148 (Same as the 91147, but priced individually)
Gorilla 61147 (Lifetime Finish, 13/16 hex)

- These are longer (1.90"):
Gorilla 91147XL (Extra long, Chrome, 13/16 hex).

- Open-ended (1.0"):
Gorilla 90048 (Open-ended, 13/16 hex, priced individually)

Here's the best price we've ever found for the Gorilla 91147 (91148): http://www.brandsport.com/grla-91148.html (91¢ each when you buy 20)

Here's the Gorilla Numbering Convention:

I had some that got rusy too. Now they are supposed to be garanteed not to rust all you have to do is send back the rusy ones.

At the risk of being stupid, I will first ask a stupid question:

I purchased the Gorilla 91147 (91148) lug nuts for my 18" alloy RT rims, is it safe to assume these will work with my OEM 17" steel stock rims this winter?

Thanks in advance for your knowledge and experience.

I can't say for sure, Kevin, but I'd imagine they are the same on the Challengers.

There is still an open question about why there are various part numbers for the stock lugnuts - when all of them I've seen appear to be identical.

But I'd be surprised if the stock lugnuts on the Challenger are different than on the LX models.

Gorilla just came out with an exact replacement 1 piece lug nut that is the exact same size and look as the original, except not a 2 piece. The 20 piece set is model number 611148CH-20. The 4 piece set is 61147. The 20 piece set is around $70...well worth it if you ask me. They've been out for only 3 months and they can't keep them in stock. Apparently there is big demand for these.

Huh! That's interesting. Kinda cool if anyone really wants to keep the stock look all the way down that far, or if there are any lingering doubts about seat contact patch. Pricey though, dang!

Make sure to add the CH to the end if you're looking for this new lug - the 61147 still pulls us the 91147-style, but in the Lifetime finish. The 61147CH is the new one (package of four): http://www.amazon.com/Gorilla-Autom..._2?s=automotive&ie=UTF8&qid=1290462465&sr=1-2

For me, the 91147 is still the winner, but more options are good!

Beware - I just received my 5 packs of 61147CH lugs from Amazon (ordered from the link above). What I got was the 61147 lugs that are the thin version. They had been re-labeled with a 61147CH tag and barcode. I contacted Amazon and explained the problem. The rep is going to re-order 5 packs for me. I asked them to make sure what is sent looks exactly like the website photo. If I receive the wrong ones a second time, they will open an "investigation" to see why the wrong parts are being sent. I'm trying to get these for Xmas.:panic:

Another thing is why aren't the 61147CH lugs shown on the Gorilla website?

12-7-11 update: Amazon pulled thru and sent the right ones the 2nd time. OH YEA!

I know this is an old bump, but fust an FYI. I was at costco the other day looking at tires and they have the gorilla lugnuts that you can buy from them.

FYI - DONT use the stock lock nuts on Police steel wheels....

They aren't deep enough and you will shear off the caps within a day or two, the stud will basically pop them off for you... Gorilla 91147 works with no problem though

The 91147BC is black chrome and there are black chrome locking nuts available (96641BC). The locking nuts are back ordered in a lot of locations.

Unforunately I will staring enviously at Dannyboy's nuts as mine will not arrive before I leave for SF6.

I went online and found some GOR-61148CH and ordered 20 of them, they will be here on Saturday.

I have the GOR-91147SS but they are starting to screw up and bulge after rotating tires.

As you can see, I have tried a few other lugnuts to no avail:

I hope that the new ones I ordered will be okay, they are 1 piece design.

Nice. Good to know there are gorilla replicas for when my Challenger ones go to ...

What size hex? 22mm? 21mm?

Those are cool. And they should alleviate the last of any concerns folks might have.

*should* ;)

exactly Mike...should...lol... we'll see how they last up here in the NE with regards to rust... I bet they won't do too well...but we'll see ;)

I realize this thread has been around for awhile, but I wanted to say thanks to Junior for the info. Ordered my lugs last night (black set for my track wheels and chrome for my USW's). Looking forward to replacing my rusty/beat old lugs that I've been using for the last 5 or so years. :thumbs_u:

Can someone help with understanding the nut measurement specs? Our Costco has switched from Gorilla to White Knight http://www.whtknight.com/cgi-bin/prodtype.cfm?subcat=1. Gorilla's site shows all nuts 1.4 inches long but White Knight's site shows nuts available in varying lengths. This has me confused.

For starters our nut spec is 14mm x 1.5 that is 1.4 inches long. I know 14mm is the thread (width?). Is 1.5 the length of the thread in inches?

White Knight has various bulge acorn nut styles available in different lengths, 1.4, 1.38, 1.75, 1.9, all available in 14 x 1.5 spec. Can we use any length, use only 1.4 or longer, or must we stay with 1.4 only?

The 1.5 is the spacing of the threads, like 1.5mm from the top of each thread to the one next to it. Kinda like fine vs. coarse thread pitch.

1.4 is the total overall height (or length).

Anything more than 1.4 should work fine; I would guess that the 1.38 would also work.
