Hi good stuff so I assume I can use the trans stick in my 300 CRD since its a damiler/chrysler engine, so its just take the cap off the trans tube and shove the dipstick in?
Yay, resurrecting old threads. so when we say these are Mercedes part numbers, does that mean that I have to go to a Benz dealer and not a Dodge dealer for the parts?
Or goto purchase off parts.com If you use this link you can insert the part#. It is possible a vendor here can get these parts for you. Mabye Builder Bill or Southern Hot Rod.
Yeah I'm not all that thrilled with it either. And I looked up brake rotors and they have the wrong price in there for SRT rotors unless you use your link to specify the part number.
Something I never realized until I went to that site: The 'trademotion' parts locators that you see at almost all Dodge dealer sites are a wholesale shopping cart system that comes from... parts.com. I always thought it came from Dodge/Chrysler.
This explains why so many of us have issues across multiple sites when ordering belly pans, for example - and why Dodge dealers aren't fixing some longstanding pricing mismatches. They're just subscribers to a commercial product they probably can't crack into themselves.
That first part no. is wrong the Mercedes dealer says that's a tool part no. anyone got the right no???? thanks in advance, got the blue tops on the way but wanted to get the dipstick to...
Ok thanks he didn't have an exact description of it so he couldn't tell me what it was other then it showed to be a tool, and I was thinking it was going to be a permanent dipstick, so thanks again for the clarification...
I myself use a loooong zip tie marked appropriately.
You will still need to know tranny oil temp (at least once to mark correctly). You can do that a few different ways...Via dashhawk, Aero Interceptor Gauge, Starscan/starmobile (dealer), or just about any OBD monitor. You may also be able to see it with the predator (not sure).
I commend the ingenuity in the "zip tie tool mod" but I wonder is it really worth it. The proper 722.6 tool is on ebay for about $25 and by the time you invest all the labor time in marking, measuring, and monitoring temps to get it correct, couldnt you have just bought the correct tool with a guarantee it's correct? Just saying :Na_Na_Na_Na:
Yes the dealer can get me the dipstick tool for $35 probably should get one,
I do have another question on the Blue tops solenoids how do you know which 2 to replace there are 3 with the same part no. and I believe 3 others with different part no. I was going to try and tackle this myself just want to replace the right 2 ,, Right??
Here was a pic of a similar trans. I found on Mercedes SL55 AMG PARTSCATALOG.RU
Maybe someone has a breakdown of the right trans. valve body that would be very helpful..
Ok after I got my shop closed down I went to my local dealership and got a pic of the valve body assembly and the pic is identical to the one above but the no. are different instead of no. 25 there no. 9 so are these the 2 that get replaced??? there are 3 no.9
I also got a description page for all of these parts, all the no. 25 or 9 are shift solenoids, and all the no.30 or 11 are trans pressure solenoids, and the no.35 or 10 are trans lock up solenoids
So there are 3 no. 9 pic. above no.25
and 1 no. 10 pic above no. 35
and 2 no. 11 pic above no. 30
Hope not being to confusing so correct me if I'm wrong the 2 no. 25 next to one another are for shifting from 1st to 2nd and then 2nd to 3rd, and I would assume the other 25 is for 3rd to 4th next to the no. 35 for final lock up?? I guess there isn't one for 4th to 5th
sorry if this is a dumb question, so i stopped by to pick up the ebrake pedal (great find by the way - kudos to the originator of that one) anyways, I am interested in the diffuser and cover, but here's the thing. I just upgraded my pumpkin to a 3.64 gear set up on my V6, I don't know the diameter of ot to even see if the cover and diffuser will fit? been looking and searching, and have had varying answers so I need a definate answer before I shell out the $$
