I have a "G" in position four and I believe I do not have the trailer tow pkg. (My rear shocks look like normal shocks.) I also have an "8" in position seven. An unknown value.

FYI, in September of 2005 I went to view the cars that were here for the annual "Targa Newfoundland" road rally and I took note of the VINs on the factory sponsored Mopar cars. There were two. One was a SRT8 300 and the other was a SRT8 Charger. Both had VINs with the last six digits (representing the build sequence) of something like 000043 and 000050 or thereabouts.

Position 1 should show a "2" for Chrysler Canada.
Both the 05&06 Service Manuals list "1" for Chrysler Canada. While I have seen other Chrysler decode sites have our northern neighbors as a "2" I am mainly going by that. (don't let the #1 status go to your head :Na_Na_Na_Na:)

Does anyone know what a "G" in position four indicates? ...or an "8" in position seven?
First edit might be in order...

The 05 SM lists an "8" in position 7 as "LX - 49" (whatever body style that means)

Still can't find anything on "G" in position 4.

I looked at my rear shocks. They look to be a similar diameter to the fronts which look like regular size struts/shocks to me. So I have the "G" but as far as I can tell I don't have a tow pkg.
Anything else to look for on a car equipped with tow pkg?

The Nivomat shocks are usually the key to look for on the tow package. You could get a build sheet from a dealer or one of our vendors (I think the Mopar Super Center) might do one for you.

But the "G" is the indicator for tow package. When I was looking for a Magnum I wanted the tow package and the "G" was the key on the VIN that showed up on every car with tow package. I have one on mine and it is a "G."

Does anyone have the VIN decoder for the LE models?
The LE is the LX for foreign markets including Europe and Australasia.
I'd also be interested in knowing where my car was built - I assume Graz in Austria but someone once thought the estate cars / hatchbacks were built on the Magnum line in Brampton Ontario.
My 300C hatchback has a VIN starting 1A8GCE7256Y (6-figure serial number left off) so you can see a few codes not appearing in your LX decoder.

My car is the 300C 5.7 estate car, RWD, right hand drive UK version.

Thanks,
Greenheugh
