I have a 2006 dodge charger rt 5.7 hemi RWD it start up stays on but it sounds like a piece of metal bouncing around.do that mean I need a new motor or can it be saved?

Sounds like another one of those miniscule numbers of Hemis that have dropped a valve seat.

Is it missing on one or more cylinders? If so, you could insert a boroscope into the spark plug hole and see if you can determine if any damage has occurred. You might have to pull the heads to see. If you don't know enough to do this you need to take it to a mechanic, maybe an independent shop that won't charge as much as a dealer. Try to find one that has some experience with the hemi engines.

It's not misfiring it's sound like a single piece of metal bouncing around and it's not loud till I push the gas
