Hey guys,
Curious if you hellcat guys change From the stock brembos? Dust is unbearable on my scat and I've had power stops on my daytona and old scat but they didn't perform well in certain circumstances and temperatures... since you all have even more power and I believe the same pads and rotors, curious your solutions ..
Thanks

Full ceramic ? And just pads ? Are they ok with stock rotors ?

I'll take dust over brake fade, all day. It's the price if doing business. I use the Bendix STOP pads, for the front and rear. Semi-metallic, but they've never failed to stop this 4300 pound beast and don't squeak.Ran them on my 6.1 SRT Charger without issue, so here I am...BobLux Technologies - LuX Technologies - Custom Interior Light Mods for Chrysler / Dodge / Jeep Platforms [LX/LC/WK]
while I hear you and everything I read agrees with you, the dust is horrific and out of control. ONE day of driving after wash they are filthy... I suppose it's not sooo bad as the wheels are black but it's still annoying...so what you're saying, if I understand correctly, is that there is no equivalent performance wise pad to the semi-metallic, that has no dust? So ceramic and carbon do NOT perform the same which I understand... too bad there is not a pad that has no dust like the powerstop but performs like the OEM Brembos. the brembos work great with little fade even when hot or wet but that dust is crazy...I also read that the brembos, and other semi metalic pads, will wear down the OEM rotors way sooner than a ceramic or carbon pad. Is there any truth to this?so the trade off is fade for the non OEM ceramic and carbon but the benefit is zero dust and way longer rotor life? for street normal driving is it worth it the question. In my last case, it wasn't as those powerstops worked great most of the time and they did stop fine when hot/wet but the feeling in the pedal was very concerning and not right.. just can't figure out if I did something wrong during install, or break in, or what as no one else seems to have experienced anything like this. If that didn't happen, to me its worth changing and some loss of performance for longer rotors and no dust...

so the consensus is full ceramic as opposed to the powerstop carbon/ceramic? What is the difference and is ceramic pad better? Are either ok with the OEM rotors?I had powerstops on my last daytona 392 but had issues with them when hot and wet.. very uneasy feeling and shudder, only when hot and wet. otherwise worked fine. perhaps I didn't "bed" them in properly as I seem to be the only one that had an issue like that.

Than k you Bob. Yes it’s not such an easy answer or clear cut decision. I understand and have lived on both side of this and still cannot decide what do here on my newest charger lol.
Will keep thinking and reading before making a decision.

I might still lean towards the powerstops except that uneasy feeling when wet while hot. Outside of that I didn’t see any real difference based on my conditions, which is daily driving with some spirited runs but no track or anything of the sort.
Thank you and everyone for chiming in, although I’m not a hell cat owner (yet), I am on my third 392 and still in the family....I guess the 392 is your younger brother after all lol?

The ceramics will work fine with OEM rotors - no difference other than less (rotor) wear do to the ceramics being a less aggressive material. And that's the rub; the loss of friction properties as temperature increases.

But the fact is the ceramics will offer you one panic stop at a time. They must cool back down to normal operating temperatures in order to offer another similar friction event.

Ceramics will be just fine if you're not working the brakes like Mario...

yes I think I'm leaning towards trying them again. a slight loss of high temp. panic stops is not critical to me as it's very unlikely in normal street driving, I would think... but the benefit of no dust and longer lasting rotors which are expensive, might be worth it...

I have had great luck with the Powerstop Z23 pads on my Challenger SRT. It is mainly an everyday driver but has been to the road course a few times and I have no complaints, the no brake dust sealed the deal for me.

I run the Power Stop Z26 pads. No issues stopping on the street or drag strip. If you are going to road race the car, then a different pad would be in order.

Phil
I just went z26 on my 392 today. Stop just fine :)
