Definitely not the fastest way to launch the car from my testing. Though it can help you learn what the car likes and doesn't in terms of launching. Also takes to much time to set to make it practical, even at the track.
Its a good gimmick when it works, for drag racing completely useless. You need traction control completely off. With launch control, traction control is on to a degree.
With SRT or with 19+ Scat Pack it takes no time at all. These cars have a launch button. Preset your rpm before you pull to the line, press the launch button just before go time and a second later you are ready to launch.
I was referring to the finicky nature of putting enough force on the brake and stomping the gas to get it engaged. It is not as smooth as hitting a button, but this is a problem with many systems. If it actually worked better than someone who has actually driving a RWD performance car at least once, then these quirks could be overlooked. But as it stands, it's more hassle than payoff. My 2nd attempt to launch my Charger resulted in a 0-60 better than any of my times with LC.
I decided to give my best a shot of improvement. Put it in track mode and setup. Gave it 3 runs and at every time it would activate as it should would hit the gas and upon the launch it would choke out or pop out the back and then take off. Best times ranged 4.6-4.9. Now that's not bad however I have a best if 4.5 with tire hop.
The concern is the popping. It is as though the timing was off or something like that.
My last car was an Audi Quattro. When it launched the turbo was spooled and it took off.
I feel that I should go back to as stated before "mind control!"
Not really following what you mean by "pop out". Bog, yes because how LC works is by modulating the throttle to counter the wheel spin. Popping like timing would be backfiring through the tail pipes. The other kind of popping I can think of is rev limiter. If you are hitting the limiter on launch, you are definitely not using LC or there are issues with it.
Also just in case you aren't already aware, if you feel wheel hop cut power immediately..do not peddle through it.
Ya it was backfiring in a manner but it was a pop from tail pipes none the less. And yes the wheel hop sucked and yes immediately lifted and gathered back up.
I have build dirt track motors and race dirt track and it pops like I fouled a plug or have a jetting issue. Not something I would think would happen here. Was very odd.
Maybe I’m overthinking it and need to try again.
As I wanted to get used to it for something fun to mess with light to light.
Runnin the stock PZero 275’s came with. I know I can do better if I can get a smooth takeoff. That’s the whole issue it hesitates, hops, or as last time spit and popped and then takes off like a SOB. That loss of time during the delay is what’s preventing me from hitting a better time. Was on a boring stop and go road today lots of four way stops no one around so I decided to try again no LC just custom sport mode trans street everything TC off. Lots of spin with a 5.1 was best lmao. Probably need to drop tire pressures and feather it more. It’s a different feel with TC off I gotta get the feel for the sweet spot.
My best time is 4.4sec on stock 275 tires pzero. I cannot reproduce it though and normally get 4.6sec. I think it was colder morning, tires were warm and I started manually in a track mode with traction set in street mode.
I was reading somewhere that 2019 and after cars are tuned a bit differently and faster to hit 60

That’s very interesting. Now that you mention it, all these young bucks I see with 392’s, their cars sound so much different than mine did stock. I do recall hearing something about the exhaust tunes a bit different but wasn’t 100% sure

Please don't start the underrated crap. Take the time to learn about SAE testing. Every forum out there (Mustang, Camaro, LX) says their cars are underrated and post dynos as proof. Guess what, if everyone is underrated by the same percentage....then everyone isn't underrated.
Also Heat has a WB 2020 Challenger now, and it's slower than his 2019 Charger. So don't put stock into anything you hear about tunes being different. Exhaust definitely seems to be different, but that sort of thing can be expected.
Also the 0-60 gauges are notoriously inaccurate when there is wheel spin. Run it through the 1/8 and note the mph. That will give you the best indication of power without a dyno visit.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I've read that the speed signal comes from sensors on the front wheels & therefore wheel spin should not be factor in 0-60mph times.
