Almost everyone here at least close to my age, has an 80’s stang in their list.... they were great at the time... there wasn’t much choice at that time really? It was either a Vette, a stang, a formula 350/camaro, or if you were lucky enough to grab a grand national! Used to run 1/4 mile at Hollywood Miami and it was all those 4 cars only... the Buick dominated and crushed us all which was amazing at the time from a v6 lol. My best ever, I have the slip still, was I finally broke into the 13’s... fully stock and it was quick for that time and considering it was only 225hp lol. Best friend had a formula 350 and that was some car too...for the times of course.. we ran neck and neck at the track identical times literally... the good old days... then again, now we run mid to high twelves stock so low 14’s sounds slow as a snail lol...

I was just a teen at the time, but I remember going to cruise nights with my neighbor across the street who had a beautiful 85 Mustang (last one with carbs if I remember correctly). Anyways, I remember going to the drags and GN's just walking away from dudes.

A few years later, it was the Syclone, which was probably one of the most stupid, useless absolutely awesome creations in the automotive world. I remember the first time I saw one in the wild; I was riding with a buddy of mine who was driving a 90 Eagle Talon TSi. At the time, DSM's were fairly new to the scene but they were doing pretty well with the AWD and turbo. This black pickup pulls up next to us at a light, motioned at us and of course my buddy took the bait. The light dropped, and that truck absolutely destroyed us out of the hole and put bus lengths on us the rest of the way. Man those trucks were cool.

Owned this for 22 years before selling it for the down payment on my ‘17 Scat Pack. 1987 Shelby Charger GLHS. They were new when I was 16 and found it when I was 24. 100k miles on it, rebuilt the motor and transmission myself, restored the interior, stripped and polished the wheels and had it painted. Learned a lot both good and bad. Also had an 08 Dodge Avenger, a 00 Dodge Stratus and a 96 Dodge Ram Sport as daily drivers in the time I had the Shelby. Before that I had an 87 Dodge Shadow Turbo and a 77 Chrysler Cordoba which was my first car. I also had an 84 Plymouth Horizon, an 85 Chrysler New Yorker Turbo and an 85 Chrysler LeBaron Turbo as winter beaters. Was really into the Turbo 2.2 stuff for quite a while. I commuted from 50-100 miles each way for work over the course of 11 years, I had the Ram and the Shelby when I started and once gas went above $1.50 a gallon I took over the wife’s Stratus to drive to work picking up the Avenger when that wore out. I kept the Shelby around to still have something to enjoy since I was stuck with driving a meh car daily but really didn’t enjoy it much. It was usually in the way in the garage and I didn’t drive it. I ended up selling the wife on getting the SP as my only car and I couldn’t be happier.

interestingly enough, not a lot of you had German/Japanese cars. I wonder why I thought maybe the price but then I see some expensive cars. Scat Pack is not cheap either.

Are you guys just loyal to domestic brands? just curios

As I got older(the last ten years or so) , I became loyal to American made. But in my youth I loved the Vw/Audi and really loved the rotary rx-7’s. Also had great experience with my Subaru.

My last car was a Focus RS, loved the car but had 2 major engine repairs in 8k miles. Couldnt live with it possibly breaking at any point. I have owned about 50 cars mostly Fords over the years.

well, back in the day how could you want anything other than a mustag, GN, etc. for me personally, and I've had bmw, MB, audi's, hondas, infiniti's, etc... I just LOVE having a big american car and V8... the sound, the feel, the everything and now a days, it seems their quality is on par... I'm on my 4th dodge and so far they have done well... also, the new performance german cars are very expensive not only in up front purchase price but along the way... everything from oil to brakes to more complicated stuff like turbos etc. not sure I want a twin turbo BMW if something goes wrong one day... they quoted me like $10k if my 335i turbos ever were to have a problem LOL.those are my 2 biggest issues... just my opinions here, also the "feel" of sitting in the car as opposed to sitting "on" the car... just feels so much better to me in my charger...

Well, let’s see. I know my list will be boring. Too many slow cars.

‘89 Dodge Shadow 2.2 4 door non turbo automatic. First car at 16 years old. So slow. Managed to roll the car on a wash boarded dirt road. Totaled.

‘81 Ford Mustang Ghia. 200 I6 with an automatic. Had plans to V8 swap and add suspension. Lost interest and had to move out of parents place. Sold it.

‘88 Dodge Dynasty 3.0 v6 auto. Ended up being very reliable. Had to fix the valve guides due to oil burning issue. Rear ended a pickup and fixed the car. Sold it to a friend who drove it a lot more.

‘94 Chrysler Lebaron convertible 3.0 v6 auto. Dark green with white top and white cloth interior. Drove this car during college. Loved having the top down. I remember getting better mpg with the top down. Have yet to find another one like it. Hit two deer at the same time and totaled the car. Still miss it.

‘92 Dodge Daytona 3.0 v6 with a stick. Base model with some bolt on mods. Felt quicker than it really was. Drove it to 189k and sold it. Miss it a little.

‘95 Dodge Ram 1500 black in color. 360 v8 4x4 regular cab short box. 3 inch suspension lift with 35 BFG all terrains. Ran great. Meet my now wife with this truck and the Daytona. I was known as “the big truck guy” by all her girlfriends. Sold the truck before moving to AZ due to it not being “family friendly”. Her truck was a ‘04 Toyota Tundra double cab 4x4.

‘04 Tundra double cab 4x4. Not really my car (wife’s truck) but married into it. Don’t love it but very reliable and wife won’t let me change it (girly truck). All stock. Still have it.

‘00 Chrysler Concorde 2.7 v6. Bought super cheap with my brother. Rebuilt the engine. Drove it to 200k and gave it away to a family member for first car.

‘02 Chrysler PT Cruiser non turbo auto. Was given to us by my father in law. Somewhat reliable. Very clean. Sold to a family member who recently sold it. 200k last I know of for mileage.

‘09 Chrysler Town and Country 3.8l v6. Served us well. Won’t buy another family car without a DVD player. Keeps the kids quiet and entertained. Trans lost some gears once. Fixed it. Drove to 135k. Sold it.

‘15 Chrysler Town and Country. 3.6 v6 pentastar. Much better engine than the old 3.8l. Daily driven today and very reliable.

‘16 Charger SP. Bought new (first new car ever for me). Only has 2 options. Navigation and wheels. By far the fastest. Don’t think I’ll ever sell it unless the next Charger that comes out is widebody and scatpack. Not for sale (yet).

‘18 Chrysler Pacifica Plug in Hybrid limited. Great van. So quiet (I must be getting old). So much technology in it. Still slow but with the federal rebate and factory discount, a good deal even though minivans resale value is horrible. Wife’s daily.

Now that I look at the list, only 4 of the 13 had 2 doors. I must like having room for other people.
