That is what I am planning on going to once I finally wear out or get tired of the RSA2 all season bowling balls that came stock. They have been great as long as I don’t use the gas pedal.

I think I used the stock tires for less than 5k miles, not even to the first oil change. I bought Continental ExtremeContact 275s and sold the stock tires on Craigslist for a few hundred dollars.

Its borderline criminal that they put such awful tires on such a heavy, high horsepower vehicle.

If I buy tires I expect to be sticky, I'd be happy if they last 20K. :) That's what I got out of a set of BFG Sport Comp 2, and at a bargain price. Actually got almost 24K out of a rear pair that was not rotated...but I also don't do burnouts with them, either. Once I wear out the P Zero's that came on my set of Scat Pack Dynamics take-offs, I'll probably get more BFG's.

I have the dws06 in 245s on my SCat. Small but work well. They were ok in the snow last winter and are decent all around. Way better in the rain by miles. A little better in the dry than the GYs. They ride well too. I would expect 30k miles until they are too worn for deep water.

I might go to the 275/40s next time but it probably will not help 0-60 Times. 275 just looks better on the 9" factory rims. 245 in this tire just looks small for a 9" room.

If you don't plan on rotating, a 255/45/20 is perfect up front for the 9" wheel and might give a better steering feel and less rolling resistance than a 275 up there. I ran that size square on my previous 300 SRT wheels before I moved up to the 9.5's with 275's on them.

Sure, my comment was to the guy asking about his 9" WRT's. In his case I would personally run 255's up front. The factory 245's look too skinny, and IMO 275's are a bit wide for the 9" wheel though depending on tire brand/model the results vary. In the case of 9.5" wheels I fully agree, 275's all 4 corners no problem at all. The factory does it and there's no reason not to as the wheel width supports it and they fit the car just fine.

Curious as to whether you considered the Michelin Pilot Sport A/S3...they got better reviews on Tire Rack than the Conti's did. Similar wear rating, etc. I had them on my Grand Prix and the car was rock solid in the rain. I have not had good experience in the past with Conti's in general, but based on what you guys are saying will have to give them a re-look.

I bought a set of Michelin Premieres for the 05 Magnum. car vibrated like crazy, went back to Discount Tire and they re-balanced the set. Two more re-balancings and still a vibration from the rear. I went home, put the car in the garage put it up on jackstands and took this video: Dropbox - 20141129_120926.mp4 Showed the manager at Discount Tire and they replaced the whole set no questions asked. Was definitely a bad batch. I rolled the dice with the Michelins for the Grand Prix, ordered them from Tire Rack already mounted/balanced on new rims and they were amazing tires. On the other hand I was part of the class action suit filed against Continental because their tires that were OEM on the Magnum in 05 wore out in 20k miles, and they were sold as 60k tires. So completely understand where you are coming from, but having had good and bad experiences with both, I'm not ready to cross either off the list categorically.

I just ordered a staggered set of Continental ExtremeContact DWS06 275/40/20 front, and 315/35/20 rear. Is anyone else running these tires? If so, how do you feel they perform for daily driving. I almost pulled the trigger on Nitto's, but I wanted something better suited for the rain, and I don't track my car anyway.

I also wanted to thank MissBeeHaving, ATXscat, and several other members for giving me the knowledge, and confidence of using staggered tire sizes. I did have to buy 2 - 10.5" wheels to accommodate the larger rears. I'm not running spacers, nor is my SP lowered so hopefully I don't have any rubbing issues.
I'm replacing the HORRIBLE "upgraded" Dynamics package 275/40/20 Pirelli P Zero Nero summer tires, they have a little over 4.5K on them (8/32" remaining), so they'll be a good back up or I'll sell them. These tires suck in the wet, and dry, but they are great when cornering at high speeds without accelerating, and gas and they'll break loose.

Again, thanks to the community for the knowledge.
Hate to sound ignorant, however, if I already have the Dynamics Package on my 17 Scat Pack, to get the meatiest tires without purchasing larger rims, what's the largest size that will fit the front and rear? Planning to purchase few front and rear tires soon and don't want to regret my purchase. Thanks for any advice. SD

You can look at the specs on Tire Rack of any different tire you might choose; a good starting point would be look at a brand you like and check for a 275/40/20 (factory size) and then list the specs to see what other sizes they offer so you can see if you'll be able to get a full set of matching brand/model tires in a staggered fitment.

I personally would not go wider than 275/40/20 up front as that's plenty wide already. Also would not go narrower due to the 9.5" wheel.

For the rear, the aforementioned 315/35/20 is technically too wide for the 9.5" wheel; it's meant for 10.5-12.5" so you could suffer with a little bulge in the sidewall and also poor contact patch. That's gonna vary depending on tire brand/model. Your fronts at 275/40/20 are a little under 29" tall (28.7-ish) so look for rears that are near that height, fit your wheel width, and are wider. You'll quickly see there's not a lot of choices when sticking with a 9.5" wheel!

Yes, that 315/35/20 will "fit" but it's not really the best case scenario. I understand plenty will disagree with me because they've already installed tires like this; please stick to facts instead of opinions though! There's reasons the tire manufacturer has recommended wheel widths, it's not just their opinion.

So when choosing the tire ask yourself what your goal is - more traction from a wider and properly formed contact patch and good sticky tire compound, or for it to just look meaty? I know I didn't answer your question (as I said there's not a lot of choices) but I hope I gave you something to think about.

I am using 2 of the factory wheels up front which will house the Continental 275/40/20 on 9.5" wheels. The rear will ride on Continental 315/35/20 on 10.5" VOXX Replica's. I am also using 3mm spacers to "prevent" rubbing/wearing of anything prematurely. I am using other peoples mistakes & successes as a formula to get it it right the first time. I hope that my research doesn't fail me.
When are you going to test your theory?
