It appears that it should fit my 08 r/t so I can swap out my 2.82 diff for the 3.90 one ? Does anyone know if this will work... I think these originally came in v6 cars , I am hoping this is a direct bolt in as I will just buy a wavetrac unit to install in it .. any help would be great!!
I’m just hesitant because the rear of the 3.90 diff & mine is very different.. the 3.90 has the vent on the rear cover & the bolt holes aren’t the same where it mounts to the cradle .. on mine the vent is on the top of the diff & the rear cover has an ear that sticks out on the left side 2-3 inches , I guess I could change the rear cover but then the diff won’t have a vent ?

Well I called mopar parts & they just took me it won’t fit the v6 rears are 198mm & the r/t rear diff is 210mm well that sucks , was trying to get 3.90 gears & not spend $2500 on the getrag upgrade axles , hubs etc ...

I have a dss carbon fiber driveshaft that fits the 3 finger yoke ,so I guess I’m just going to have to go the getrag 3.92 swap with axles & hubs .. I have a 3.06 rear diff from a 08 srt8 with 24,000 miles on it that I was going to do the swap to but I guess it’s headed to eBay unless someone here is interested in it ...
I have 2009 charger rt with a 2.62 rear end , I came across a 2008 srt8 with front and rear cradles .. when I in stalled the srt8 rear , the ratio freaked the CPU out .... big time went in to limp mode stayed in third gear all the time I went back to the junk yard got the TCM for this srt8 which by luck was a mopar performance tcm car shifts great now no issues my 0-60 is a constant 420 and my best was a 406 sec I was impressed I haven’t got car retuned yet but shift point are off I ave a guy that tunes my car with HP TUNES .. far as the bolt pattern being different on the rear .. I used half the srt8 drive shaft and half my rt drive shaft at the slip joint , at the carrier bearing.. the spline was the same even measured out the same , done some made burnouts no issues yet other than ripping the srt8 rubber coupler part .. the fix for that was getting a factory one ☝ I got one from Germany seems to be holding up .. hopefully this helps changing Gears and doing headers has been the biggest improvement’s to this car so far
You can find a used 3.92 Getrag for around $500 if you are patient. The Getrag is much better than the six cyl and the earlier years hemi diff. And you will have LSD.
Well I visited my friend in the parts Dept @ my local dodge dealer & I pulled the trigger on the 3.92 getrag, new axles & hubs to install on my 2008 charger r/t ... best of all is she gave me it all @ her employee discount so for $2030.00 I got all the parts to install..YAY, now I can finally install my dss carbon fiber one piece driveshaft!
