Hidden damage has a way of skyrocketing once they start pulling it apart.
Hood, fenders, radiator support, grille, bumper cover and impact bar, lights, whole mess of coolers & condenser, front "frame" horns, and more...that looks like a really expensive hit.
Retro swaps are too predictable anyway. Yes it would be unique being a Demon powerplant, for sure...but I'd rather see it in something COMPLETELY unexpected. Like I dunno, a '58 Chevy pickup body on top of the Demon chassis. Totally do-able, and would piss everybody off that didn't have at least some sense of humor.
I didn't realize Cleveland PNP was that well known that people joke about cars going there. Must be well known like the big airplane bone yard in AZ. I was really hoping it was true . I was at that place as a teenager getting parts for my 1980 Mustang with 5.0 conversion. It was just a normal junk yard then.
Yeah, they were Dodge Dart demons. Built in '72 $ '72 based on the Dodge Dart only with the 340 high performance and sister car to the Plymouth duster. My brother had one as he was heavy into molars back when we first started driving and getting into hot ridding. They also made a Plymouth duster twister with the same high performance, high revving 340!
Don't try and school me on old Mopars, I HAD a wide variety across A, B & C body platforms and a few oddballs. No one ever called it a "Dart Demon" (yes we know it was based on a Dusterized Dart, Captain Obvious; my first car was a Dart Sport, which is what the Demon became when they had to lose the name). That obscure dealer brochure (which is what that is) is the only time in 40+ years I've ever seen (or heard) it called a "Dart Demon". But good job, do you feel better lol?
They put themselves on the map with modern muscle guys by selling complete turnkey running engines-on-a-pallet, and with the Mopar guys by doing projects like 6 speed LX's that only came from the factory as automatics. Anybody parting out a lot of SRT's (along with other high performance models) is gonna get some attention. So yep, a few people around here know about 'em.
Hemi, the Demon was a trim level available only in 71 and 72. It was still a Dart, though. Muchime the Challenger now, base, R/T, SP, SRT, Hellcat and Demon.
There wasn't another car close enough to compare it to so the moniker just became Demon even though it was still a Dart.

Yes, I know it is still a Dart based vehicle (had one), this was never in question (even the VIN character says Dart). HOWEVER...it was not ever commonly known as a "Dart Demon" and you'll not convince me otherwise lol.
Before they became "Dart Sports" (had one of those too)
Thank you for posting that, it helps prove my point. The pictures over at the right side, Dart, Dart Custom, Dart Swinger, then we have Demons. Not Dart Demons

It's a Dart demon and a demon 340. In 73 it became a Dart sport. If it wasn't a Dart demon how could it be changed to Dart sport?
It became a Dart Sport in '73 because the bible belt was entirely too unhappy about the Demon moniker...what the **** else would they call it LMAO? Just a Sport?
Regardless, when have you EVER heard (well maybe you have, because you're a special kind of snowflake) anyone say, "hey come check out my Dart Demon" or "ooooh that's a really cool Dart Demon"? Never.
