I have a 2018 challenger with the alpine system. Since day 1 ive had no bass what so ever. Im wondering if I received a bad amp from the start. Can someone tell me where the location of the amp is and is there a way to test is? (Have not bought a chiltons manual yet...I know)
I was just thinking about this while riding around in the 300 yesterday. Compared to the Beats system in my Charger, there is no bass in it either, but it's Alpine.
I've been doing car stereos on the side since 1986 and Alpine has NEVER been known for bass. Crystal clear highs, yes, but never for bass.
Strange. I was a little disappointed that my '18 300S didn't have Beats, just the Alpine system, but it actually pumps out a decent amount of bass, especially from the 6x9's in the front doors.
The amp SHOULD be behind the kick panel under the steering wheel, left side IIRC.
Honestly, if you're still under warranty, I wouldn't touch it until I took it in and let THEM fool with it.
If you've adjusted the EQ and still don't have some bass from the front door speakers (which carry way more bass than they should) something is definitely amiss.
I'm pretty sure 2018 is the same as 2013. If so, Punisher is correct, just go higher. Remove the kick panel, then the two screws on the left, and pop the bottom section of the dash out. its up there on the left. I'm dealing with what I believe to be a blown amp right now, and can take a pic if you need.
But, that won't solve lack of base, unless maybe there's a loose harness or something. For that, you might consider installing an external amp and sub.
Try resetting the radio, from the engineering menu.
Hold the driver side temp up and down buttons, simultaneously, for a few seconds, then scroll to Radio Reset, or something like that. It's been a while since I was in there...
See if that helps.
The front door speakers are imaged by the amp (meaning crossed over), and they are mid-bass speakers, designed to push lower frequencies.
If you have zero bass, you MAY have a bad amp, or the door speakers were never hooked up.
My 15 Hellcat has Alpine and there is plenty of bass from the front doors.
I'd take it to the dealer. They'll be able to connect to witech and check the amp, without disassembly.
