How to Install MYGIG Unit into 05-07 LX

Items needed to install MYGIG into Pre-08 LX

(1) MYGIG RER Nav Radio****low speed model only****Chrysler part# 5064401AH or higher revision. example part# ending in AI or AJ or higher.

(2) MYGIG adapter lockpick with optional A/V harness***Do not get confused with MYGIG lockpick***

This is available from Dom @ TVandNav2go(supporting vendor). You can contact them at sales@tvandnav2go.com or call them at 718-763-7367. In my experience his service is top notch service.

(3) Nav Antenna for MYGIG

(4) Mopar Mic for U-Connect operation Part#82211743AB for about $35-40(uconnect is built into unit, Mic is required for operation)

(5) Clock Fix Firmware Update Disk(clock on mygig would normally not work in 05-07 LX, this corrects the problem)

The next 2 items are only require if you intend to subscibe to Sirius. Sirius is built into mygig, these items are required for proper operation

(6) Sirius Sat Antenna Extension Cable - Chrysler Part#05064159AD(2 may be required depending how you route it) (only required if your going to subscibe to Sirius)

(7) Terk Sir-SP Splitter (only required if your going to subscibe to Sirius and have EVIC display)

(8) Cable Tie Wraps

Tools Requires: Basic Hand Tools

Installation Instruction:

IMPORTANT: Prior to beginning disconnect negative terminal from battery

(1) Old Head Unit Removal

(A) Remove Bezel
(B) Unplug Clock harness(if applicable), ESP switch harness and HVAC harness
(C) Remove Radio by removing (4) screws and unplugging all connectors from rear of head unit.

(2) Prepare Car and Lockpick Adapter

(A) Install New MYGIG NAV antenna(swap out with REC antenna or just adhere to top of plastic duct work behind radio)
(B) Route Sat Extension cable(s) from rear of car where old sat tuner is installed to front of car behind radio. Run the cable underneath the side trim that holds the carpet down then under the dash to back of the radio.
(C) Install U-Connect Mic to place of your choice, I mounted mine to the top left hand corner of the windshield.(see picture below)Run the wire under the a-pillar then under the dash to behind the radio.
(D)Configure dip switches of lockpick adapter unit per lockpick adapter instructions.

(2) Prepare MYGIG unit(see connection diagram below)

(B) Plug in AM/FM antenna adapter supplied with lockpick adapter to MYGIG
(C) Plug in AM/FM antenna cable into adapter.
(D) Plug in SAT extension cable into MYGIG
(E) Plug in male end of lockpick adapter T-harness into rear of MYGIG
(F) Plug in Female end of lockpick adapter T-harness into factory radio harness
(G) Plug in U-connect mic into MYGIG
(G) Plug in optional Lockpick adapter multimedia harness into rear of MYGIG(optional)*this will give you A/V input and output capabilities. For example, rear/front camera input, Audio/video out to headrests or Audio/video input from VES system.

*Use cable ties to keep wires neat and install clean

(3) Install Radio & Lockpick Adapter

(A) Install MYGIG unit car and secure with (4) screw removed from step 1C.
(B) Place Lockpick adapter underneath MYGIG unit(in back of HVAC controls

(4) Perform SAT info EVIC fix using TERK SIR-SP Splitter
*This is only required if you plan on subscribing to Sirius.

(A) Wire the Terk splitter into old sat tuner per picture below

(5) Update MYGIG firmware to version 9.897 or 1.295(latest) to fix Clock

*NOTE - If you do not perform the update correctly you can damage your MYGIG, it will essential turn your MYGIG into a big paper weight or brick, perform update at your own risk*

(A) Insert clock fix CD and follow on-screen instructions
*Do not shut car off while firmware is updating
*After the firmware has updated the system will reboot, WAIT till see the following message on the MYGIG screen.

Update from "9.897 to 9.897"

Press No then Eject the CD. This is the equivalent of the "Your installation is complete" window. Do not eject the CD before you see this screen and click No on it.

(6) Modify Bezel and Install

(A) Many have modified a non-nav bezel to the size of the MYGIG or fill in the nav bezel radio opening with ABS plastic, bondo, prime and paint to color of your choice. For the 300C you have another option of buying a 08 bezel and sanding the sides of the bezel to the same contour of the 05-07 bezel on the bottom 1/3 of the bezel.
(B) Reconnect Clock harness(if applicable), ESP switch harness and HVAC harness and reinstall Bezel
(C) Reconnect Negetive Battery Terminal
(D) Enjoy Radio

Here is picture of NAV bezel that I Modified

Before

Inprocess

After

Here is 2008 Bezel that was modified to fit 05-07 300C(much easier than above modification)

This is a great write up!
Only a few details were left out though, where do I get or download the clock fix?
Thanks!!!

I guess im the only one who is having a peoblem displaying the SAT station on the EVIC.
According to your pic of the original SAT tuner, mine is larger than yours and I have a blue and white input.
Ive tried every possible scenario to get it to work but no luck.
Any ideas????

bert,

I guess you have have the older dual input sat tuner? Did you install a new single wire sat antenna for the mygig, if so. try plugging the new antenna into the mygig then take the old two wire sat antenna and pug into old sat tuner and see if that does the trick, just make sure to take the sat antenna out of the trunk where it can see the satelitte. I know for a fact if it doesen't see the satelite it won't work. if that works you can just place the anteena on the rear tray and it should be able to see the sat through the rear window.

Quick Question, do any functions NOT work after this system has been installed? I see where the Clock issue was fixed, but can I expect anything else to be non functional?

#10 ·
I have come across a few minor, none that I have been worried about or really cared about but here they are:

1) unit only works in English, the other languages are not selectable.
2)phone# from uconnect only shows on MYGIG screen, It doesn't show on EVIC display.
3)You can't program Nav through EVIC and steering wheel controls as you could with the REC, not a big considering the MYGIG is touch screen and ability to use voice commands. I personally never used this when I had the REC.

For the guys without EVIC and steering wheel controls then most of these issues don't apply.

I have had the MYGIG installed for awhile now must say it is night and day when compared to the the REC.

Got the Mygig in, got the Sirius ant extender and WTH? I need the TERK SIR-SP splitter now?? I've read other write ups and they didn't not mention this splitter.

#14 ·
wait. is that just for the EVIC?? I don't care about that. where do I plug the Sat ant extender into?? one end on the back of the Mygig and the other??

yes, just to get the sat info to display correctly on the evic. The sat anteena extender will plug into the mygig on one end the roof antenna on the other end. The connector from the roof antenna will be plugged into the old sat tuner, just unplug and plug into the entension cable.

Subscribing.....Is the 08 and up bezel for the MyGig a direct color/fit replacement for the REC swap out (2006 Charger SRT8)? In other words, I have the REC, and am assuming the bezel is not the same size where it wraps around the head unit, so I am wondering if I were to buy all of the hardware, is there a bezel part number for the Charger that would work?

I must have rabies, but when I click the link, I don't get a download screen. Am I missing something?

300MAG, thank you for the write up. It was very helpful for me this last weekend. My conversion was from REC to RER with a lockpick V2 adapter with multimedia harness, SAT extension cable, TERK splitter and a separate U-connect mic

A few issues after the install that i see, wonder if anyone else had this.

1. The uconnect status on EVIC - blinks from "no phone" to "phone connected". Doesn't matter if there is a bluetooth connection established or not, it just blinks. However the phone calls can still be made through mygig. Any issues with that?

2. The TERK splitter EVIC fix - didnt work for me. I used the XM-SP not the SIR-SP version, as the latter one is discontinued, the XM unit is identical (i called TERK), just the connectors are slightly different. Can still be used though. However, EVIC still gets no sat radio station info, everything else for the Sat radio playback works fine. In your pic, in step 4 of the write up, the White connector is in place (output to Old Sat receiver) and the Blue one became the "Input of roof sat antena"? Am i correct?

3. Radio (Sat and FM?) preset stations get reset at some point. Now this one is tricky. I am not sure what causes it, didnt have enough time to play with it. But may be somehow related to the DVD movie playback? I read somewhere that this happens with you connect the iPod interface, but not about mygig...

4. Navigation is OFF on EVIC when nav is actually ON.

Anyone had these issues?

Also, I definitely needed a second Sat cable. With just one you cant route it out of sight along the floor carpet and panels - right now the wire is stretched across the rear passenger floor, under the drivers seat, in to the dash. So if you're doing this you may want to get two sat extension cables.

Outstanding write-up. I'll have to give this a shot someday. What is the approximate cost of a project like this? I currently have the REC and will not need Sirius. I like the fact that the MyGig has touch screen and and an audio input. I was planning on getting a PAC Audio adapter so I would have the audio input so I could connect my BlackBerry to it. I went out of town this past week-end in a different vehicle and had to use a Garmin Nuvi 200. I liked that so much better than my REC because it was touchscreen. It was also even able to pull up my home address when the REC will not. I even have the updated disc. Another awesome feature I liked on the Garmin is that it automatically adjusted itself for a close up view as you got closer to your next turn. Does the MyGig have this feature?

Anyone have the part no for the 300csrt mygig bezel and what has to be modified?

#28 ·
I followed everything I have a 06 SRT that came with Nav a and satlight. I did the VES mod to get video input from mygig to it. And followed directions very careful and was able to get all parts. Everything works but one thing. I can't get ves to work on its own. Meaning that I ca watch viedo but I can't get radio am/fm or satlight on it. Any ideas?

This is very helpful, thank you for posting. I am converting from a RAK and not REC, so I have no Sat tuner in the trunk. Do I need to buy a Mopar Sirius Antenna or will the current Sirius antenna that I have (universal from an aftermarket config that came with my SC-C1) plug into the extender? This likely means that I won't get the Sat info in my EVIC huh...

I have read that I also need a newer Navigation antenna when installing the RER into a pre 08 model (the REC antenna won't fit). Is this true??? If so, what is that part number? Thanks!!

I completed the MyGig retrofit. However, I am unable to use the GPS clock. I have tried multiple times to set it using the GPS option but it never works. It continues to read 12:00. I am using version 9.807 (the same version that came in my 08 commander and works perfectly with GPS time). Any thoughts or suggestions?

got it! Just downloaded the latest version and uploaded it to the mygig. Worked like a charm. Flawless!!!!! Thanks again for this awesome write up!
