    We're GOIN' to Laguna!

I discovered totally by accident a few minutes ago that Speedventures has added a Laguna day. This coming Saturday. As in day after tomorrow.

I don't have the fundage right now, having just bought wheels to get back my track set. And having both street and track tires all nicely mounted/balanced. So of course I thought long and hard for all of 30 seconds and hauled out the credit card.

I think I am going to try and get an interval from the starter rather than what I usually do, which is start with the other guys in traffic. I'll just let them all get 1/2 a lap ahead of me, get a clear field and go. And I've had zero instruction time. I could have actually bought quite a bit at this session since they have part and full time instructors available, but the track fees were steep this time, and I wasn't comfy blowing another $150 for 4 full sessions with a copilot. Probably a dumb move.

I got **** to get together fast. Staying the night in Fresno tonight so I'm worthless for prep here. Looks like I'm taking the afternoon off tomorrow and hauling ass home

Matt's done in with the Magnum at least a couple times. In fact its thought he holds the record on that course for an LX at 1:54.

Mind some spectators Matty? Might come watchu make some Porsche owners cry.

Yes, yes it is a blast. Hoping sometime after Maddy's older and before I have any more little ones I can make it out to Laguna to drive my own car.

Matt, let us know how your set up works for you. Gotta decide whether to start putting away money for Pedders and alternate wheel/tire set ups for track days.

    hmmm. lets count:
    • 2 years running on the SRT Track Experience driving SRT Magnums, 300's, Chargers, Crossfires and ... Vipers. The driving was epic... but getting to know and hang with the core LX crew was the real deal there. Tamara... you know what I mean.
    • 4 separate times in my own car since 2006. Arf! Arf! Arf!
    Yeah a couple times. Arrrh!

You know you never need to ask my friend. I'll be in the line waiting for the track to open at 7 am. I already have a pit crewman joining me but if you need a crash location let me know and I'll make the honeymoon suite available for you and The BossGirl.

Thank you my friend but I am no stranger to this track. I literally live just down the road from Laguna Seca and I consider myself greatly privileged to be able to call it my home track. Here is my video from last year. Where I came in 3rd place behind Meister (#1) and Fast56k (#2 by a nose) but gave a great view of the line in an LX or any other car, so I've been told.

    http://foohbar.com/magnum/laguna.wmv

Watch that Subaru leave my ass behind at the straight after 11. While I eventually reel his ass in and he submits, be advised that what you see on this video is why I did the Reloaded project. That one moment is where I said Fu** No! No effing way am i going to put up with someone leaving me like that, regardless of whether I can run them down and grind them to dust via driving ... eventually (which as you can see I did).

This is a monster 125mb video at 640 x 480 so just download locally and have at it.

I have told many folks privately that I will not release the video I took this April when I took temporary ownership of the LX lap record for this world-class track. It was 5 seconds faster than the video you see here. I flat out sucked at driving Darth Hemi; having just taken possession back after the full Reloaded project's completion. Plus I had other issues with the brakes. And despite this I did pretty well.

Its up to me to do better.

Hopefully I will not embarras myself on Saturday. I have some ideas on how to better my driving, and I think I have my brake issues squared away. Saturday will be a day of learning. I have a lot of work ahead of me just to get the car ready, to get my head right, and oh, yeah...

And I quote the great Matt while in the cork screw ... "Oh $hit!" *crunch*.

Thanks for the video Matt. That was fun.

Matt, here are your free pictures - just remember that you get what you pay for. All pics were taken from the top of the hill near the corkscrew, so if some of the shots look far, it's because they are. lol

If you want any of these in high rez, let me know.
