View Full Version : What is it with those Scat Pack guys???

Stemming from a conversation ongoing in this thread: http://www.lxforums.com/board/showthread.php/376157-The-Scat-Daddy-vs-Hellcat?goto=newpost

I don't understand the odd superiority complex Scat Pack owners seem to have (at least the 4 or 5 I have personally come across). Whenever I come across any Charger/Challenger... no matter the badging... I enjoy trading compliments back and forth, or at least a thumbs-up and a smile where we recognize each other for owning a great car. I'm also used to many SRT8s wanting to play around just to see the Hellcat run, you can tell the ones who want to have fun.

But man, these Scat Pack guys, they're a different breed.

They'll fly up on your ass from behind, get up next to you and rev their motor as loudly as they can, then try to take off and egg you into a race. No gestures, no smiles, just rev up and bait. Most don't even wait for any acknowledgement, they just take off so that while you're playing catch-up, they feel like they're beating you lol.

I get it, maybe before the Hellcat came along, y'all were dominating your little street scene with light-to-light runs or freeway roll races... and maybe you forgot how to be humble. Maybe you've got an A8 and you've played with an M6 Hellcat and had a really good run because there is a certain deficit there. But remember, just like there is a world of difference between a V6 Challenger and a 392 Challenger... there is a world of difference here as well. Enjoy what you've got and be proud of it, but remember your place in the pyramid.

I love the power I have, but I know if I'm running a GT-R or C7 Z06, I better be on my game, and it's a coin toss... but I'm not going to roll up on a new Porsche GT3 and rev him up like a 16 year old ricer. And I know damn well that there are a ton of sleepers in my area, I could get my ass handed to me in any number of ways, by any number of tame looking cars... and I'm totally ok with that :-)

So maybe next time you pull up on a Hellcat, try just being cool and have fun... if I'm gonna waste my gas on running you, I'd at least like to know we each had a good time doing it... not that either of us were trying to prove anything.

This thread should stir some up some ****..:stir:...LOL...Many losers in a street race never knew they were racing or didn't want to race because they were intelligent enough to know the danger to others. I never have anybody come up to me and start revving except for the Honda and Toyota ricer crowd.

I ignore them and watch them tear down the road racing an imaginary race. I am sure I have been the subject of u-tube street videos showing me being beat in a race I never joined. The Mustang, Camaro and Mopar crowd never screw with me because I guess they have seen my car at the track and know what it can do. Not that there isn't some local Fords and GMs faster than me there are just few that can run low 11s.

The Scat Pack vs SRT vs Hell Cat threads remind me of when this forum was young and a few of the SRT owners would always bash the SE cars for being weak. Silly then and silly now.

There's some dudes over on the Silverado SS forum posting "kills" that crack me up. A boosted and heavily modified SS running a stock 300C. I let 'em know how silly they sounded, haven't looked back on there yet; I'm sure they're attempting to rip me apart for bubble bursting.

Offered to run my stock SRT8 against a stock SS, let's see how well that works out for them. :)

ya know alot of unorganized street racing, light to light, on the highway etc. becomes a matter of who is stupider. E.G. the "loser" decides to stay at WOT after the "winner " lets off, in some vain atemp to prove something, like how stupid they are. Maybe how dead they are. not sayin I have not ben stupid, but there is always someone who is goig to be faster, or more willing to take your life and others into thier hands, just to prove nothing.
IRT the scat pack, I think its the ultimate sleeper, well, next to my car, of coarse. It will run, what 12.5 as delievered? I figure a new PCM/ custom tune, a True CAI from legmaker, maybe an exhaust upgrade, a t-stat, and a set of DRS and I could run high 11.s all day. Doesn't mean I gotta be an asshat about it like I'm that kid with the fart can in the honda. AS much as he needs his azz handed to him, its not my job this week. Now Fri night at the track...bring it.

I experince 90% mutual positive waves , comments etc from the MOPAR comunity. OP I have not encountered what you have....but I havent driven home yet so who knows.

Tiger, I used to enjoy your posts a lot more before you became a dickhead. This is a very broad and general application to put on people, most of which seem to have much better character than you.

What is with these Hellcat/SRT owners needing to make threads to justify their God/superiority complex?

See? Works both ways.

Just became two cars out of thousands did something, it doesn't mean you need to generalize.

You (and other folks on here) claim you aren't trying to prove anything yet... Here you are, every single day.

And do us all a favor, don't break yet another car.

Ahhh, I wondered how long it would take, I know you wouldn't be able to resist. See below....

Tiger, I used to enjoy your posts a lot more before you became a dickhead. This is a very broad and general application to put on people, most of which seem to have much better character than you.

Coming right out of the gate with personal insults. Classy. You're the only dickhead I see on this thread. As a matter of fact, you're generally the only dickhead I see on most threads you post on. All you do is bitch, whine and belittle others. Frankly I'm amazed that you can keep up with all that bull****. You have a chip on your shoulder, and I don't know why. It's starting to come off as an inferiority complex.

And yep, I can be a dick, no doubt about it. But at least I have plenty of redeeming qualities... I've not seen that from you.

What is with these Hellcat/SRT owners needing to make threads to justify their God/superiority complex?

See? Works both ways.

That might have worked if you actually had a point to make. I was clear in my post that I love meeting other Dodge owners regardless of the badge on their fender, or the motor under their hood. I said it plain as day, all you had to do was read. Instead you saw a few lines about Scat pack owners, got your panties in a bunch, and hit reply without bothering to read for context. And I did plainly and clearly state that, mainly for those that don't know me, or have never met me at an event... because those folks already knew that about me.

Just became two cars out of thousands did something, it doesn't mean you need to generalize.

Of course I have to generalize, I don't know those particular individuals I came across. Also, a hand with math... I said it was 4 or 5 that I ran across, not 2. Now let's look at this a little more closely...

Since I have not met every Scat Pack owner personally, I can only go off of the 4 or 5 that I have run into.
Of those that I have, ALL have been this way. That makes it a 100% rate.
So, while I have not met 100% of Scat Pack owners, I can say that 100% of the Scat Pack owners that I have seen have acted like this.

Does that make it a tad less confusing for you?

You (and other folks on here) claim you aren't trying to prove anything yet... Here you are, every single day.

Here I am.... what? Posting? What am I doing "every single day" that bothers you so much? You must be confusing me with all of the other people you fight with on the forums because I don't post about superiority or inferiority of either car... that's one of the others you like to bicker with. Its funny, you come off as a forum bully, and I would want to call you that... but you're really not very good at it. I mean, you TRY, lord knows you put in the effort... you just suck at it. I think it's probably that complex you have that comes through and holds you back. I'm amazed that you're dumb enough to try to go toe to toe with me, of all people. Unlike you, I truly don't care. Your opinion of me means about as much as a gnat on the ass of an elephant.

And do us all a favor, don't break yet another car

This is my favorite part. Please... if you don't answer any other part of this post, please answer this.... what the hell are you talking about? I have never... let me be clear once again.... never broken, damaged, crashed, or otherwise hurt any of my cars. Ever. So you gotta tell me what it is that you're referring to, because I am truly and utterly befuddled.

You've continuously made blanket statements belittling other users and I'm the bully? My statements are directed at you, only. Don't use other discussions as a crutch for this ******* of a post.

The rest of your post doesn't deserve a response from me. Have fun creating threads to compensate for other obvious deficiencies in your personality.

LOL! I knew it. There was no way you actually had any substance to your post. Just another instance where you had to try to pick a fight with someone.

Now you know that I'm not the person to do it with.

My post was full of substance. I focused your post, which is the entire topic of this thread. You, obviously, did not. Every point I said was correct. Your lack of comprehension isn't my concern. Believe me, you getting butt hurt that I not only destroyed the arguments made by other members, but apparently offended you in the process, makes you far less of a threat than you make yourself out to be. I'm removing this from my participated tab. Enjoy.

Let's not forget just how classy you really are, Mr. High & Mighty. Remember taking shots at another member's little kid?

He has to be one of the worst users I've ever seen on here. The problem is that he's a brat. He believes Dodge cars are for poor people with the exception of the SRT line. So, in his mind, he has to defend the hell out of some arbitrary condition list. Notice how every solid piece of proof we give him, he is like "who cares!" His argument was that SRT is what SRT makes them. When we started telling him SRT calls the SP an SRT, he started saying that FCA marketing is the holy grail of tell all knowledge. It's ridiculous.

This is the type of guy who believes the world owes him something. I've never seen something like this.

He should focus on his son's weight problem and not on my apparent emotional distress over him being superior.

The rest of us sure do. You're a classless piece of ****, and I sincerely wish I was still living in Miami when I saw that post. (For those that missed that post initially, it's just ANOTHER in a long line of his posts attacking another member because he doesn't agree with what they said on the internet).

And nope, you never bothered to actually back up your dumbass theories.

I've never damaged any of my cars. You're delusional.
I've never told anyone with any other model of Challenger/Charger that their car was in any way inferior. Again, you're delusional.
I don't "continuously make blanket statements" about anyone, you must be reading other people's **** and thinking its me somehow.
Did I miss any?

What a tool. At least be a man and explain your dumbass theories since you've taken the time to post them.

as a "veteran" of this platform and the forums focused on it, this is like history repeating itself......

then - sxt vs. r/t vs. srt

now - scat pack vs. srt vs. hellcat

some things change, but some things stay the same...... :caveman:

While I have not met a lot of scat pack owners, the ones I have met were decent folks. Maybe I have been lucky but I have met more folks who appreciate cars (folks driving classic cars, Honda, ford and GM folks) then the asshats that want to race you at every light or ride your ass trying to figure out what you ate for dinner.

I do hope that you end up meeting some decent SP owners they are out there.

Your mention of this scenario is another thread didn't get you enough attention so you decided to make a new thread about it? Exactly what did you expect to come out this besides a pissing match?

You are really overthinking it. It isn't a superiority complex" at all, I think. They know what you have, and have no illusions their cars are "better." You seem to be assuming EVERYTHING, and applying your own internal odd rules and standards to an area where there are none. There is no such thing as a fair street race, no such thing as rules in a street race, and no such thing as a "winner" in a street race. There is no hierarchy of cars on the road, with acceptable standards of behavior and interaction assigned to them. These people, if your stories are even true, likely don't want to "race" at all, and they certainly don't think they are going to "win" ("winning" is a stupid concept in a street race anyhow). They are just excited to see your car, and want to see you open it up and have some fun with you. You also have this weird and unfounded narrative in your head about how SP folks thought they ruled the street until the Hellcat came along. But that's retarded. The SPs are really no different in performance than older SRTs that have been out for years, and last I checked, SPs and Hellcats were introduced the same year. (I've seen just as many SPs on the street as I have Hellcats: one of each, in a greater metropolitan area of 14 million people.) Why are you being so weird and defensive about it? You are the one telling people that they had better know their place, and it's below you, so you seem like the one with the complex. IMO, you should get off your high horse, lighten up, and quit trying to apply these bizarrely rigid personal rules and standards that you have to the anarchic world of driving on public streets. Save that form of thinking for legal off-road racing, where it belongs.

If anything the counter is true. At least from what I have seen at car shows. Seems most with hellcats I walk up to to talk seem to have an attitude their car is so greater than the rest while scat pack and SRT owners are more down to earth.

I don't know why you (or a couple of other people on this thread) would think I am looking down my nose at anyone. Maybe re-read this part:

"Whenever I come across any Charger/Challenger... no matter the badging... I'm also used to many SRT8s wanting to play around just to see the Hellcat run, you can tell the ones who want to have fun."

My point was that for some reason it's been the SC owners I've come across that have had the superiority complex... all I've wanted to do was flash a thumbs up or something to recognize them for a nice ride. I guess that makes me holier-than-thou...

When I meet a fellow LX/LC owner outside of the car and we begin to chat and they start raving about my car, I tend to respond by saying that no matter how powerful it is out of the box, I come across far more powerful cars... almost daily... in my area that remind me to be humble. We have guys running 1200-2000hp in daily driven cars in Texas, so believe me... at "only" 707, I know MY PLACE in the pyramid also.

I could give a **** less what anyone else drives, or what they think about what I drive. If you see me having fun in my car, punching it on an open stretch or goosing the throttle at a stoplight, trust that I'm doing it because I enjoy my car, not because I'm trying to impress you. This is real life, not Fast n Furious; I don't want to race you for pinks.

I'm glad you got that off your chest, though.
