So if you were building a turbo motor, which woulf you go with and why? I am leaning to 370...a few eztra cubes but still pretty light, and plenty of cylinder wall thickness. Any thoughts?

I believe even a 392 is a stroker , not altering the bore. I'm pretty sure you can buy a rotating assembly, crank rods and pistons. So all I can say after driving Rich Miller's 392 stroker is= go Biggie Size. His car has ported heads and a radical cam and it is probably mid low 11 second Magnum RT running a small shot of nitrous. Also talk to some of the vendors, Inertia, HHP, FRI etc. They will tell you what works with boost, but I'd say 392 stroker baby!

The 6.1 based 392 would be my choice, although I went with a 5.7 based 392. It seems to be holding together very well with 15+psi though. I didnt have the extra ~$700 at the time to upgrade to a 6.1 based motor, but I would highly suggest that to you if its in your budget. Eventually youre gonna want to convert to a 6.1 manifold to help with the turbo/high RPMs and by the time youre done on a 5.7, youre gonna spend more money than if you would have just done it from the start.

i say 392, and then take it out to a 407 or 408 whatever it is when you blow it up :)

It will be 5.7 based. This is a huge project as it is, let alone going stroker. Its going in my Ram which currently has a 4.7. I don't wanna do a 5.7 based 392 due to the wall thickness and rotating mass. I would rather have a crazy fast revving motor, which is why I am leaning to 370

383 has less wall thickness than a 392.

You might want to talk to 04hemipower. He had an insanely fast 4x4QC Ram with a 392. Though he might be moving from Michigan to Florida. I own an 05 QC 4X4 Hemi Ram and I'd think you want to shoot for torque more than horse power. I weighed my truck at Englishtown, 5985 lbs. I think he had his 04 Ram running low low 11's. He'd certainly be able to school a lot of Cummins trucks. You might check out Ramforumz or Bionicdodge.com I think someone on Bionicdodge just did a 4.7 to 5.7 swap.

Yeah I am on bionic too. My truck isn't nearly as heavy as that....weighs about 4300 without any real weight reduction

I went with a 392 solely for the piston squirters.

392...but what's more important is who's turbo and who's doing the tuning??

Its a sts kit on my ram. Hemifever is doing the tuning via sct.

Um, the 5.7 block isn't plummed for the squiters. Did you drop in a 6.1 block?.

I would recommend the 392 rotating assembly with forged internals......

His is 6.1 based.

Sorry, I meant to say 6.1 based 392. I guess that info would have helped.

I think you have bad information. luke's truck never made it out of the 13's.

We have the only ram in the "low low" 11's 11.08
