Hi all,

A friend of mine with the SCCA is also one of the founders of the new Bluegrass Motorsports Park being built in Sparta, KY. It will be just up the road from the KY Speedway. http://www.chargerforums.com/forums/images/smilies/msn/clap.gif

It will feature a 3.5 mi. Road Course! http://www.chargerforums.com/forums/images/smilies/banana.gif http://www.chargerforums.com/forums/images/smilies/driving.gif

www.Drivebluegrass.com (http://www.drivebluegrass.com/) (still under construction, just like the track!)
I'll update this post as I get more details! http://www.chargerforums.com/forums/images/smilies/new/grin.gif

- I hope that's not as off-camber as it looks! :panic:

Well, I got invited to go see the course today! :) The track itself is almost completely paved, they still need to make the entrances and exits for Pit Road. My friend and some others got to take some slow, "test runs" in their Miata's yesterday and said it's gonna be a FUUNNN track!
There's two places where the course goes downhill into a valley, then back up and out again. Total elevation change nearly 100 ft.!! :panic:

I updated the previous picture with some descriptions, enjoy! *The races will start at Pit Lane and go up the long straight toward the top of the picture. The long, straight road across the top of the picture is I-71.

That tight right hand turn after the left hand sweeper at the end of the long straight is going to be fun!

Oh yeah!! Also, if you should happen to miss that hard right and go straight... it's about a 60' drop down a steep hill into the creek! :panic:

Don't worry... they have LOTS of grading, sand traps, tirewalls and more on the way! :thumbs_u:

Hey Ron, Who's Cherokee?

Oh, our friend that invited me down has several friends with airplanes! I also told him yours would "probably" be available if needed, hope you don't mind! hehe

They will be getting more aerial shots as things progress down there, too!

Very nice. 3.5 miles is pretty big as laps go. Have fun with it!

Here's a better picture of the valley, across from Pit Lane. Notice where I'm standing is about even with the tops of the trees on the other side! :panic: You'll come around the left turn, drop into the valley, then climb the hill to the right up to where I'm standing here!

Mind, you think I might mind?! If I ever get my annual done I'm going to have to go find this place. I'll let you know when if you're interested.

Another update on the new course, the whole track is paved, and here's a couple video's to give you an idea about it. Compare the notes in the first video with my notes on the picture above...

Enjoy! :racing:

New Picture! The course is fully paved with the base layers. The top layers will be added after winter is over!

That long stretch is where you wave goodbye to every mustang ever built, well, save a few, but you get the idea.

Yea, that long stretch will be rough on my lil' V6'er... with the AWD I think I'll be strong through the rest of the course, but then everyone will pass me by the end of that straight!

It'll be interesting to see what kind of speeds we can hit before the brakes are needed, though... Just keep in mind if you miss Turn 1 and go straight, there's a 30-foot drop into a creek! :panic:

(I should clarify there's a LOT of construction to go yet, compared to these pictures... there will be tire-walls, barricades, bleachers, garages, etc.!) :)
