05 magnum rt....my buddy at dealership quoted me 275 for a key cut and programmed. Is there a cheaper way like eBay key etc?

There are certain locksmiths that will cut the chipped key and re program it. Might be a little cheaper then the dealer, worth a call around.

Bought units online, ensured they could be recognized / programmed using existing OEM keys / SKREEM system, then had Home Depot or a Lock Shop cut them. If they didn't communicate, they were returned.

Keep in mind that some cars that were subject to the ignition switch recall P57 (August 2015) can no longer be owner programmed.

No; the TSB does not apply to your model year. If memory serves the key identification process is called out in the Owner's Manual. You will require two (existing) valid / functioning keys in order to marry up to six more.

Then you'll need to have a Dealership use a scan tool.

Just saw this. Two keys from ebay for $12. Programmed the keys via Appcar. Had them cut at Walmart. I have two brand new keys for less than $15.
