I'd think about these more after tuning is available but they are something to keep in mind -

New XFI. Camshafts Deliver Big Power Increases For Late-Model Chrysler Hemi 5.7 and 6.1 Engines

Three different camshaft combinations net power increases up to 61 HP COMP Cams New XFI. (Xtreme Fuel Injection) camshafts for Hemi-powered Chrysler vehicles dramatically increase engine horsepower and torque, yet retain compatibility with all OEM vehicle computer systems. Available in three different profiles (XFI 260, 268 and 273); the new camshafts are application-specific with designs for street performance and towing.

In recent dyno tests on a Hemi engine using COMP's #26918 beehive valve springs and upgraded exhaust, the XFI 260 netted 20 additional ft pounds of torque in lower rpm ranges with a peak of 31 additional hp. The XE 268 camshaft added 14 ft lbs of torque at low rpm and 47 additional peak horsepower. The amazing COMP Cams XFI 273 camshaft yielded it's most significant horsepower increases over 4500 rpm generating 61 more horsepower than the stock Hemi 5.7-liter engine.

"We're extremely pleased with the power gains we have achieved with these camshafts," said Scooter Brothers, VP of Engineering. "When we set out to offer specialized Hemi camshafts, we had an acceptable power increase figure in mind. We have far exceeded that original target figure and believe that these three camshafts will offer customers the ability to find the exact camshaft that is right for their vehicle, car or truck."

A "Tuner Package" will be available in the future. This will include the cam and Fast-Flash programmer for optimized electronic tuning.

112-500-11 - 208 212 .522 .525 @ 113 - Hydraulic Roller - Slight noticeable idle, requires modified computer, excellent torque throughout range $379.99

112-501-11 - 216 220 .528 .531 @113 - Hydraulic Roller - Noticeable idle, requires modified computer, strong midrange $379.99

112-502-11 - 224 228 .547 .550 @ 114 - Hydraulic Roller - Needs Extended rev limit, requires modified computer and better exhaust, strongest power over 2500 RPM.$379.99

We also have springs and retainers available.

It's interesting that all three say they require a modified computer... when they first came out, I swear the CompCams website said the two milder cams could run on stock tuning...

You're right. Rev. Hammer was the first to spot this site and all it sold were cams. Then I heard they couldn't get the things to idle on the LX's. Seems like they've solved that. Cool. I was interested in the mildest one. Don't want a shaker unless its sticking out of the hood. Besides, 20 lbs tq and 30 horses sounds good to me, with minimal idle shake.

I keep hearing those 61 HP claims from Comp in articles and their ads. They claim these gains on both the 5.7 and the 6.1 but I have seen no test data from a 6.1.

Are they saying the cam is the same in the SRT 6.1 as it is in the 5.7? I doubt it, but even if it is, shouldn't they publicize some dyno pulls to show us?

I am skeptical...

Sorry for the late reply. I didn't see a reply notification for this one. The cams are available but we aren't doing much with them because of the lack of tuning. The tuner that I mentioned will be from Comp. I don't believe that will be a SuperChips tuner.

I would like to see dyno graphs and see whats happening under the curves. Given that most of us would rather see a bit more low to mid range for street driving.

If your loosing low and mid range to gain top end thats not so great on the street.

we have a guy over at chargerforums.com by the name of Wade that has successfully installed a comp cam with a krc tune.

http://www.chargerforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=5914

if you go to krc's website they claim to have cracked the code and can make some changes and wades car seems to back this up. i sent krc an email today to get more information. this looks like a great chance to do the cam. the pcm change is for all lx cars.

No Dyno numbers...:( Not sure about the computer reflash... once again... I am skeptical.

hmmm...

looks like the specs for the larger cam are smaller than what the "stock" SRT8 motor already has...

so I would have to agree that the claims on the 6.1 stuff are bogus...

afterall...larger motor needs a bigger cam...

second...what about the MDS...

you simply cant go as big without damaging the lifters...

even Mopar says to not use the 6.1 cam int he 5.7 block...says it'll kill the MDS in short order...

Does anyone have a copy of the 273 can tuning software

Did you really just ask a question on a 13 year old thread? Also, buy a tune like everyone else or buy the software.

And you can shove your attitude up your ass. It will fit in with your head nicely.
Well well, you're a real "ass"et to the forum. He was looking for info, not your "I've got a Hellcat attitude". So move on and mind your own business.

Didn't see where anyone asked your opinion either. He was looking for a handout not information. He basically asked who has a free tuning software they can send me? on an old thread about when the cam first was being developed.

Why not start a new thread asking about how to tune a comp 273 cam or which is the best software to use to tune. Anyway, I'm done with this one.

This is an older thread, you may not receive a response, and could be reviving an old thread. Please consider creating a new thread.
