As the title says, I need someone to confirm if it is possible to put an older engine block with heads from 300M (2001) to 300C (2005). I tried looking for some definitive answer but no luck, so hopefully someone will be able to give me one here.
Alot of things bolt up. The gen 1 3.5L used in the 300M was a iron block with aluminum sleeves. The Gen 2 3.5L is an all aluminum version of that. The 4.0L is a stroked version of the Gen 2 3.5L. On the Gen 1, Gen 2 and 4.0L all have different upper intake manifolds BUT they all mount to the block when using the correct lower intake manifold. The heads on all 3 engines bolt up but the gaskets on Gen 1 are thinner. The Gen 1 had metal valve covers but where replaced with plastic ones on the Gen 2. Some parts are swappable some are not. Prowler guys used to slap gen 2 heads with cams from inertia on their Gen 1 3.5l engines. It requires changing sprockets as well... but do able. The info is out there its just spread across MANY forums lol. Lot of good info on the intrepid website.
edit: if I recall correctly.... You cant put the Gen 2 in the Gen 1 without frame modification. I don't see why a Gen 1 wouldn't fit in a Gen 2.
